In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

The pet sore i go to for my leo's has recived some geckos that someone could no longer care for. Well 2 of the gecko's a on the thin side. they are adults, but they are very thin. I gave the shop owner a copy of Golen state's slurry recipe ( he asked me to bring it in) and the told me it was a joke. I told him it was used by pro leo breeders and it was used only for a short time to get the leo's back to a healthy eating habbit. is there any thing i can do for the poor little things?

Get a fecal/smear test done with a vet asap. Here is a link to what it is: http://www.drgecko.com/fecalexams.htm

They usually run at 20-30 dollars and tell you what kind of parasites the geckos have. This sounds like a typical case of parasites. Get that done, the vet will tell you what it has, and the meds typically cost around 10 dollars.

It will save your geckos in the long run! There is also a page on dr.gecko that explains the meds, dosage, etc. Do all this in accordance with our vet.

Good luck!

There's pretty much nothing you can do personally about any pet shop that won't take proper care of their reptiles. Most city/state officials won't do much for anything other than mammals, so reporting them really doesn't do much, but you can give it a try.

The slurry is from Golden Gate Geckos btw... ;).

Not really but you can stop going to pet shops. it seems every pet shop I have ever been in takes some what good care of there dogs and fish but it always seems to be a horror show in the reptile area. I just can't go in a pet shop anymore.

same with me. its terrible how they treat reptiles in mostly every pet store i have been to. its not that they take bad care of them most of the time, there is just no knowledge at all in caring for these creatures.

I had a friend that had a leo and went to petco on advice on how to care for it. The "reptile specialist" told him to use sand as substrate, use a light bulb for warmth, and put some branches so the gecko could climb. "Are you serious?" i said to my friend.

This is why i do not ask questions at a pet store, i research to know how to do things the right way, and IF i walk into a petstore for something that i need, i already know what to look for and im in and out the door.

well i am hoping that i get a job at a pet store that is going to start selling geckos and tarantulas. I have applied there hoping that since i own both geckos and tarantulas i can give the right advice and if not send them to this site about their geckos.

I need some recipes for a weight gain slurry, I have adopted an emaciated albino leopard. I am feeding her daily, different foods such has wax and meal worms and gut loaded crickets. Any recommendation please?

Oops, sorry. I know its from Marcia but I must of gotten sites mixed up or something. I didn't save it at the time.
