In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello All,
I'm new to the forum here-- My Wife and I are reptile enthusiasts but have no experience with venomous snakes- We have several non-venomous-- 2 Large Columbian Red Tail Boas- (9' and 11') 2 Ball Pythons- 1 Coastal Rosie Boa-1 Banded Calif King- 1 Hognose- 1 Baby Tiger Reticulated Python- 1 100% Het Albino Boa-2 Adult Corn Snakes and 13 of their babies which are now 2 weeks old and shedding/eating very well. We also have 2 Iguanas-1 Chinese Water Dragon- 1 Cuban Knight Anole and 2 Beardies. I am contemplating getting a Venomous Snake but really have no idea where to begin as a beginner. I'm thinking maybe a small Rattlesnake to start but could really use some advice from someone experienced in them.

Thanks for having me in your forum

John

John, First welcome to the forums.

If you are intent on moving to venomous my personal advise would be to locate someone local to you to gain firsthand experience.

I don't live in Colorado and I'm not up on the law there. If I remember correctly possession requires a permit in your state. Don't quote me but go check for yourself because I'm not sure. I don't believe they give permits in Co for personal pets or just plain hobbyist without a business or research purpose.

Again, please double check, I might be wrong.

Venomous Snakes

Hello Dennis,
Thanks for the reply and ths advice- I'll research Colorado laws to see if it is legal to own them and/or what it takes to get a permit. I had looked through the menu on this group for venomous Snakes but only saw a couple that the last posts were in 2006 and 2009 but I'll check the link you sent to me.

Thanks again
