In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info Thomas Dorn - aeterrabyte

According to his suggestion I read on BP.net, it appears he orders similiar antibiotics from Europe ... along with a few other things you can't get here

I think one is not supposed to sell some of those things. But, I'll just let the FDA make that call.

per a wiki search:
"Certain brand names, such as Silvadene, are still listed as prescription only by the FDA, yet the active ingredient itself can be sold OTC.[4] CVS, as well as many other pharmacies, only sell the prescription form despite the availability of an OTC equivalent."

So he may be in the clear on that depending on whether or not he is selling an otc generic or not.

Why does someone who has such a healthy collection know so much about how to get around going to the vet to get antibiotics?

Has anyone added to the other forum's BOI-type resources about this gentleman?

Perhaps. But he's on another forum telling someone where to go to look for Ceftazidime and Amikacin, both regulated here in the US. Says someone doesn't need to go to the vet to get them.

That sound like someone on the up-and-up?

I've been wondering the same thing. He states he has experienced nothing more than minor scale rot, but yet states:

"The tylosin (which I am assuming is tylan 200) is more specific to killing gram positive bacteria. Most of snake infections are caused by gram negative bacteria. Baytril can take care of both, but It is harsh and can lead to scaring. I personally like ceftazidime (fotaz) it always worked for me anytime I have had problems. I have heard of combining the two baytril and ceftazidime. The trick is to catch it early then it's going to be much easier on you and the snake. I like knowing about the tylan 200, I have never heard of it.

This is the website I use whenever I have a problem in combination with the advise of my vet, who's a bird vet.

http://www.anapsid.org/resources/rxdose.html"

Notice how he writes his vet off as just "bird vet?"

Certainly not defending him as someone on the up-and-up. In my few posts throughout I have pointed out quite the contrary :) Simply pointing out that if it is otc, legally he is probably alright.

As a person and keeper? Not so much. I think a combination of factors on Thomas's end caused severe damage to this snake. Whether it be the makeshift home remedies, the overheating, the dabbling in psychedelic chemicals and possible exposure, or any of the numerous lies that have been regurgitated throughout this thread.

I hope the ball can get to a good home and I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt(in my opinion) Rob is a good guy here. I have never had any dealings with him BUT he has maintained a level of professionalism throughout this thread whilst having his name tossed around in the mud by Thomas that I am not really sure many people could maintain.

*overheating/underheating

While I know the initial shipping overheating was not the fault of the buyer, the animal was without heat for at least a day which would lead to a rather hefty temp drop.

The fact remains that it was perfectly healthy for 2 weeks + and then suddenly had an issue which equates to something that happened in thomas's care caused the issue.

I'm not saying you were, just using your post as a way to point out that what he's been doing goes beyond the point of an OTC cream. He's advocating that keepers skip the vet altogether and self-diagnose and treat their animals with medications they legally shouldn't have. For someone who has been doing this a while and has some experience, hey whatever floats your boat if you want to treat your own animals. But talking about that sort of thing on a forum where the newbies tend to hang out looks poorly on all of us. How many animals have been killed by that sort of advice, when a visit to a competent herp vet is what is really needed? That's part of the problem with the internet. A few hours on a forum plus a few webpages and everyone is an expert. I mean, look at the diagnosis this guy made on the killerbee ...

Really ?? I mean, really ??!! This guy Charles is something else. Please do all of us a favor, and just go into another hobby where live animals that depend on you, wont be subject to such things and care !!!!

I will be a problem solver for all. If agreeable contact via Pm.
ship me the snake if it arrives alive and I will take it to my vet ( he helped me turn some seriously ill ball pythons around a couple times.) and I will work payments over the summer for the poor thing(being disable will give me plenty of time to arrange care for it, also why I have to wait until spring/summer ot pay for it since I do odd jobs for my snake money). I looked at the video and i my opinion it just stressed and possible minor heat issues. I had a normal that looked a lot worst ( heat stroke ) and she lived with me for 2 years before she passed away when a piece of heat pad melted(the cage too) she actually died from the toxic oders from the plastic melting. ( i have replaced all my tape since then.) This all happened before I joined forums sadly ( heck before I even had internet)
I got a blind pastel ( pet only ) and he done great with me in the last 3 years I had him( receieved hime when I receieved the cinn that had the large lump on vent.

Ohohoh. Now that this guy has finally been outed, he's silent. I love Fauna. Good job, guys. What a weirdo... and I agree about the trolling part. There's just no way someone could be so ignorant for so long.

And last but not least, Thomas appears to be quite the drug aficiando, stemming from various accounts on numerous Weed and Mushroom grow sites to even these blatantly obvious solicitations for illegal synthetic drugs (attached with IP addresses!):

So Thomas, is it possible you had one of your "chemicals" on your hand when you went to feed this snake?

Seems to me That his sites are based off stolen pictures...
For the simple fact the pictures we ask for are horrbile and video as well. Yes hes able to produce very nice clean clear pics for his site...

Sorry if this was addressed already.

I just got up. I am still waiting on the vet. No point in talking to you people. I have work I got to do.

What's 650 for him if he can purchase all those snakes? I call bs on that site. Plus feeding 3 small rats a week to a 1000 gram yearling? Feeding his collection must cost hundreds a week.

I don't think he's claiming that all the snakes on his site are his. There is a link below a photo for 'my collection' or whatever but it's not one of the tabs at the top. In many, but NOT ALL, of these pictures, he includes a website as a reference.

Now, as for 'Pastel Jigsaw rare and Beautiful', I believe that snake was produced by Jeff Luman. Wonder how he enjoys being referred to as a 'fellow snakegenius' by Thomas.

Ironically, and I'll doublecheck when I get home, Mom of this litter is from him.
