In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Has anyone ever had a female eat her own or another females eggs?...Blinkers has been gravid for awhile now...and I knew she'd be laying soon...she had eggs in her yesterday...but doesn't appear to today! I looked at her closely...went OOH!!!...I've been VERY anxiously awaiting her laying eggs!...and checked out all the humid hides, and found NOTHING...no eggs at all...there's been some digging...but I can't find any eggs anywhere in the tank! I picked her up and looked at her again and I just don't see any eggs...or feel any when I gently palpate her belly... I just don't understand it! Anyone have any idea what might have happened???

Geckos don't realy eat things taht don't move...

They have to be under the sand somewhere. And if you find them, they won't be any good by now. Sorry to hear it. :>poke2<:

Check everywhere in the enclosure, she may have laid them outside of the hide boxes.

I had a 75 gram tremper female that was over due by a day or two to lay, and then the eggs were gone. Im guessing, as Kelli said, they were reabsorbed. This was last season.

I agree with Kelli… I’ve had a female the past two years do the same thing. She was huge, clearly gravid and all of a sudden she appeared to have laid the eggs. There were no eggs though! The only thing I can think of is she absorbs the eggs. I don’t know what causes them to do this but it seems to happen quite often.

I just didn't think they would resorb eggs overnight...that's crazy! I looked EVERYWHERE in the tank! There is no sand...they would be fine if they were hidden in one of the lay boxes for a day or two...but there is nothing in the lay boxes...I dug through each of them at least twice and there's just nothing there! I thought maybe one of them ate the eggs (I know they generally only eat things that move...) because I didn't think they could be resorbed that quickly...resorption was the first thing I thought of actually...how very bizarre.... I'm sad...I want her to have more babies!! :(

I wouldn't have thought they could resorb overnite either, but that would explain a couple mysterious "now shes gravid now shes not" occurrences at my house too. Would you guys say that those eggs would have to have been infertile or somehow not good, to cause them to be reabsorbed?

For the most part I would say they are infertile. I haven’t seen the eggs though to verify that. I don’t know if it is because the female looses strength which she knows so she “aborts” her pregnancy by absorbing the eggs. I would think by doing that it would recuperate her strength. It’s quite amazing what they can do.

I have had eggs eaten before... now as to whether it was by another female or by the male is yet an unsolved mystery. I am sure the perpotrator won't be confessing any time soon.
Oops, I guess I should validate this....I was late for work, saw the eggs against the side of the container and told my wife to snag them before she left for work. She looked for the eggs but their weren't any but there was "goo" (as she put it) on the lid next to their entrance to egg box.

That's weird Gene! Do you think maybe they smushed them somehow instead? I've never heard of a leo eating eggs, but some dogs eat their own crap so stranger things have happened right? LOL ewwwww

I have a male that loves to eat grapes
OOOHHH KKAAYYY... how exactly did you find out he likes to eat grapes? I am trying to picture the process and just can't seem to come up with anything that isn't completely weird! Very Funny! Kelli, you thought my egg eating incedent was weird? ROFLMAO

OK, the grape eating leo is weirder. I have never had one that eats grapes, but then again I have never offered any of them grapes. Hmm mmkay I am going to go unpack mealies and supers and feed some leos! :bolt01:

Lol!!!

Several years ago, I was discussing the eating habits of Leopard Geckos with Dr. Frederic L. Frey, (in case you don't know who he is, he's the world's most renouned Reptile Pathologist) and he told me to offer my geckos soft, nectar fruits such as peaches, apricots, mango, etc. So, I sliced up a peach and put sections of it in each of my breeding tanks. To my surprise, the next morning almost ALL of them had disappeared. As time went by, I tried other 'soft' fruits, and many of my geckos ate them! So, I decided to try grapes.... and the rest is history! I have a few geckos that will eat grapes!!!

Now, if they start asking me to peel them first, I will have to put my foot down...

HAHAHA...that's hilarious... stuff must smell good...lol So it is possible that the eggs may have been eaten?...I would imagine it would be really nutritious for them...of course sad for me... :(
