    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Tim salime [email protected] tsalime on here and reptilescanada is selling a bunch of sick reptiles.

Few weeks ago agreed to meet him in Sauga. After a run around on both parts on time he suggested meeting in Scarborough which was much closer. Looked at his tortoises. They werent the ones pictured he said he had 4 all different yet only one looked like the ones in the ad out of the 3 he brought. The tortoises looked a bit off but he said that they were like that due to being carted around in the car.

Well I picked the livliest one from the 3 doing a full inspection he seemed ok except his eyes which he assured me was due to no humidity from the car.
He gave me a week guarantee! 2 days later I texted emailed and called. My tortoise had an RI. His eyes constantly crusting shut! I went unanswered. After having him about a month trying to get him better he died this morning.

I want to warn anyone that comes in contact with him do not buy. Save your money and heart ache. Im upset just writing this. A poor lil guy died because this ahole doesnt care about his animals.

Im also not the only one having looked into the name more.
I also found a kijiji ad by a person named Monica who in another post is said to be him or his gf. The ads for the same area.
 
Could you post any picture's after receiving?, Do you have any screenshots or copies of emails prior to and or after the sale?
 
Im not sure how to post pictures. Hell ive now got almost all his info now. Sadly there are no emails after I brought the tortoise home. Its all one sided there as he never responded back.

My tortoise yesterday morning was all sunken into his shell ect. The only pics I do have oddly enough are of this jerk. All his aliases!
 
During the month you had him and claimed he was ill, did you take him to a vet?
 
The authorities, huh? Unless this guy is going down for illegal importing, I don't think the authorities are getting involved.

Why even make this post? It leaves the reader (well, me anyways) more frustrated with you than with the guy you bought the mystery tortoise from.

If you don't know enough to recognize a "dying" tortoise and can be fooled by the "car ride" excuse, then how do you diagnose a RI? Google searches for sick tortoise? I want to know if the tortoise had a soft shell, and what conditions it was kept under once it was brought home, but I guess I won't get answers because you're done with this thread.

Sadly Im also not the only one! 7 others have messaged me on facebook having bought animals from this man as well. All have died and one lady also has her own tortoises dying as well.

The tortoise had his heat he had his uv and he had his hide. If I could post the setup from my phone I would but cant seem to get the hang of this.

I didn't realize you meant you would be back in 20 minutes. Sorry that you lost your first pet tortoise. I'm not sure how old the one you purchased was, but I would always recommend paying a little extra and getting one that was a year or two old. You can avoid a lot of problems that way. Also, I'm sure you learned this already. but you should never buy a tortoise that doesn't open its eyes when you're handling it. Not to say it's super unhealthy, because I've dealt with a lot of baby tortoises that go through that, but it's not going to be a "beginner's tortoise" in that condition.

I am still a little shocked in the sense that two days ago, it was a story about a sick tortoise and now it's about an illegal importer that is in serious trouble. I guess a lot can happen in 48 hours.

This is starting to sound implausible. You are saying that you got a tortoise from him, had the opportunity to inspect it in person, saw the others sick with eyes crusted shut, bought the baby anyway, had it for a month and it died. No mention of a vet until I asked.

So far, no posting of proof of vet visit. And ten, yes you said ten, people pmed you but not one posted on this thread. And I doubt stores contacted you about their dealings with him, why would they do that? If they had negative dealings they would not contact some random customer.
 
I was shocked as well. Ive actually since posting this gotten quite a bit of info and im very very glad I did post. This was my whole reason for the post. To warn others so they dont get taken in and to gather as much info about him as I can. This is also how I found this all out about them being illegal ( not this site but by posting about it on facebook) which was even more upsetting. When I called wildlife yesterday and spoke to the agent there he took my info I already had, when I called him today hed spoken to another I guess youd call him agent or his boss there was actually a case open on him and I was informed that hes known to them.
All I want to happen with this is for him to be caught. Hes taking wild animals away from their homes and selling them! Thats not right. I dont want to support an illegal trade by any means. Not to mention I also dont want to see these guys suffer for greed. Everyone wants to make money in this business but it should be done with the care of the animals as top priority.


And thank you for the advice. It is definitely on my list of things to look for. I did check it but when he said the reason for them being closed (dry) like that was the lack of moisture being in a travel container they did seem dry which is why I guess I was stupidly taken. The tortoise did open his eyes when water was placed on them. While I was home with him thats also when I noticed his eyes were watery. At that point I was upset and knew.
To answer your question on age I was told a few months old but who knows if that was true. He was very tiny!

Lesson definately learned. I will be sticking with trusted people and making sure I know where sellers live and see how these animals are in fact cared for.

Not all were from this forum. As I stated some were from facebook as I posted in several of the pages with which im a member of.
There are some from this forum and reptilescanada. Actually one of the people who actually made a thread on here about him already, a thread I did in fact read after I bought the tortoise sadly, sent me their condolences. The small business (employees not business owners) that did contact me are people that I know through pages on facebook and that I have mutual friends in common with. One person working at a toronto based petstore.

But you dont have to believe me thats your choice here is the number you can call and ask to be directed to wildlife to ask yourself should you require proof passed my thread :) the user name you can use to search is tsalime77. Are you saying if I dont post the vet proof that this didnt happen to me?

As soon as I can get to a computer I have no issues posting the pictures. Ill also ask the other lady to scan and post her vet work as well for you as she took it further after hers passed away!

When people have proof, (and she did say the critter was seen), they should post it. If they do not post it, they may not in fact have it.
There are those who post bad guy threads for all sorts of reasons. So far on this thread there seem to be many accusations and no proof, many mentions of other people who are not posting here.
Mike, if someone started a BAD GUY Mike2014 thread, and you were not, perhaps you would be grateful for those who asked questions.
