    I am still waiting on my developer to finish up on the Classifieds Control Panel so I can use it to encourage members into becoming paying members. Google Adsense has become a real burden on the viewing of this site, but honestly it is the ONLY source of income now that keeps it afloat. I tried offering disabling the ads being viewed by paying members, but apparently that is not enough incentive. Quite frankly, Google Adsense has dropped down to where it barely brings in enough daily to match even a single paid member per day. But it still gets the bills paid. But at what cost?

    So even without the classifieds control panel being complete, I believe I am going to have to disable those Google ads completely and likely disable some options here that have been free since going to the new platform. Like classified ad bumping, member name changes, and anything else I can use to encourage this site to be supported by the members instead of the Google Adsense ads.

    But there is risk involved. I will not pay out of pocket for very long during this last ditch experimental effort. If I find that the membership does not want to support this site with memberships, then I cannot support your being able to post your classified ads here for free. No, I am not intending to start charging for your posting ads here. I will just shut the site down and that will be it. I will be done with FaunaClassifieds. I certainly don't need this, and can live the rest of my life just fine without it. If I see that no one else really wants it to survive neither, then so be it. It goes away and you all can just go elsewhere to advertise your animals and merchandise.

    Not sure when this will take place, and I don't intend to give any further warning concerning the disabling of the Google Adsense. Just as there probably won't be any warning if I decide to close down this site. You will just come here and there will be some sort of message that the site is gone, and you have a nice day.

    I have been trying to make a go of this site for a very long time. And quite frankly, I am just tired of trying. I had hoped that enough people would be willing to help me help you all have a free outlet to offer your stuff for sale. But every year I see less and less people coming to this site, much less supporting it financially. That is fine. I tried. I retired the SerpenCo business about 14 years ago, so retiring out of this business completely is not that big if a step for me, nor will it be especially painful to do. When I was in Thailand, I did not check in here for three weeks. I didn't miss it even a little bit. So if you all want it to remain, it will be in your hands. I really don't care either way.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Both of you are wrong for shipping anything LIVE 2nd. Day via USPS (with the exception of feeders)

And with all do respect... Did you not post Shawn as a Bad Guy because of his dragon that passed and he's giving you crap and him not wanting to pay you the $75 ?

I don't see how the rest is relevant to your main reason to posting about how he ships and what he did prior to your last transaction... If I can remember correctly, you posted a Good Guy thread on him not too long ago and mentioned such a wonderful packing job he did on your snakes.

Were the snakes he shipped out 2nd Day USPS, snakes you received? If this "bad blood" never happened between the two of you, would you be singing how he did something illegal up on the roof tops as oppose to you keeping silent about it if he never gave you crap about a dragon he got from you?

Shawn, the whole shipping the snakes via USPS and mislabeling it purposely is one of the many reasons why there are so many laws trying to be passed on snakes.

Good luck to the both of you, it always sucks seeing "buddies" at eachothers' throats.

I even told someone posting on this thread that I did NOT want to bring this hear and had been avoiding it because I thought we were once friends and I did not want this.. BUT you would not stop.. You kept threatening to bring me here, we are here!

And the bad part is, you never gave me a chance. YOU and I both know I would have sent you any reptile you wanted even after the 10 days and our 3 day guarantee was up, I would have replaced her with 4 dragons to make up for it. I would have told you to get her Vet help. You may not admit it here and now but you know me better..

I truly hate this, but you are wrong here in more than one way!

Hello hey wanted to tell you lucy was just found dead I have been trying for a day or so to tell you she was getting real lethargic and shrunkin spin.I took the smaller frailer one and ben got the more active on who seems to be fine all my other Dragons are fat and Happy so I dont know?

What happen? They all did great here the whole time they were here, they were eating great!

Were you soaking them every other day and misting them with a water bottle every day? It could have been this nasty heat wave going across the US!

I don't know, no clue at all, as I was not there but it could have been anything.

We just had a kid want another one he came saying nothing odd happen other than it ate an outside bug I ask him if he read over our care sheet that I provided for him. He must have remember or looked over it because he said never mind that it was a lightening bug and sadly there are some bug that kill them within one day and the Vet can't even save them.

From how you described it, sounds like she was hot and or dehydrated.

But when I sent them they were all the same size and weight pretty much so I don't know which one you mean by "smaller frailer" one!

I'm really sorry I know you were excited to get the trans in. :-(

This isnt "Gang up on Shawn" fest. This is just trying to get to the facts of "did he knowingly violate law and the Lacey Act" by shipping snakes via USPS. This is about Amanda STILL being owed money (75.00) that she isnt going to see. This is about the not communicating with the OP about a sick animal in the timeframe agreed upon by both parties via Amandas TOS.

Personally, I have nothing against Shawn other than a few of his posts that he has directed towards me in this thread as well as another. But, I DEFINITELY have an issue if he KNOWINGLY shipped out snakes via USPS. ;)
 
Noooo my point is that he will not let up and get off me for shipping USPS when HE did the same but with SNAKES..

Yes the packing was great, the snakes were safe in the box. Just as were dragons, see my point.

He is going around posting on people profiles about my shipping, and his poor dead dragon from that shipping. What about all the others that are ok..

YESSSS I know I need to give up on reptiles forever because I live so far back in the hills that I am not near a place to ship overnight. My only choice is USPS, sorry for that..

Exactly. If the animal arrived to him sick he should have said so at that moment. If other were sick, again, he should have said so early on. Amanda plainly states there are a certain number of days her animals are guaranteed for after arrival. If a buyer waits beyond that amount of time to contact the seller with an issue, it then becomes the responsibility of the buyer. Maybe with better communication things could have gotten resolved in a civil manner.

This is going because I have done nothing but wait on the money, when I log in and got that nasty message from him for no reason yet again. It is going because he said he should post me on the BOI well here it is.. He wanted it, he same as ask for it..

All I did was reply to "she died" and I got all this crap..
Well little does he know my very next reply would have been "we have no more trans, but I do have BP's, corns, and new baby VC's what would you like?" OR "ok well since you lost her even though the guarantee is long up, just keep the last $75"

Did he give me that chance? Did you Shawn?
 
Do you really think it is OK to break reptile shipping Laws??? It is people like you who make headlines and cast a negative light on our industry....

Amanda, I think what Shine is saying is that you SHOULD have shipped the dragons overnight via USPS, not 2nd day. For the animals sake, that is what you need to do. But, if in your TOS you guarantee live arrival its really a moot point how you ship as long as it is legally done. Not that I agree with two day shipping (Shine is absolutely right) but, you should change to overnight USPS for lizards and use something else for snakes should you ever need to ship some out.

I couldnt agree more..... people establish TOS for a reason..... It also seems a bit fishy that there wasnt a single phone call about the dragons coming in sick.....

There's no need for sarcasm... UPS does offer package pickups. And as for the rest of what I said, if he wasn't giving you crap about the dragon... Would you be so quick to tell everyone how bad of a person he is because he shipped snakes the way he did? I'm sure if he never gave you such grief, you would keep your mouth shut about it rather than making your case.

Plenty people will ship USPS on LIVE but not 2nd. Day. And I will have to add on that you recently dealt with a friend of mine who said you told her shipping to her is overnight and $50? She told me this a couple weeks ago... Whatup wit dat?

It is perfectly acceptable to step away from a BOI thread if you are losing your temper or if the thread is deterirating into a shouting match that nothing good will come of.

If everyone stick to the facts and steers away from personal attacks it is much easier to get at the points each party is trying to make.

Being accused of shipping snakes USPS is pretty serious and leaving the thread while that is hanging over you is not a good idea.

And dramatic exits are pointless.

I have said here for years that even if something goes wrong in a transaction, the test of how one looks at the parties is how they respond. Courtesy,understanding, and a clarification of the facts are all good places to start a BOI response.

And just to clear the air, YES, I told Amanda to take it here. After all, this is what the BOI is for Shawn. Its how you handle yourself in here in a bad transaction that seperates you from the bad guys in the hobby. Personally, I think you two should talk this out and come to some sort of resolution as you two were once friends.

Honestly Shawn, Amanda was more upset that she felt that she lost a friend that she talked to EVERYDAY for a year. I personally believe that she would have sent you almost anyhting in her menagerie of animals to keep you happy. She didnt want to post this about you here. I told her to do it to expose your shipping etiquette as I would want to know.

Banjamin, if there are MORE emails then why do you not talk to your dad or roommate and have HIM post them. I do agree with you that there are plenty more emails but I don think that they are one of you telling her within her TOS timeframe, let alone recently that say "hey, I have a problem with one of the beardeds."
 
I know Dean that is what I'm saying, I should juts give it up.. Because there is no way for me to ship overnight or UPS.. It is 3 hours away. There is a drop off a hour away but I don't like to leave my reptiles there..

In all honesty Amanda, if you are unable to ship properly due to your location you shouldn't be shipping at all. I am no saying that anything Shawn has said has any merit at all (the opposite actually). However, second day shipping is simply unacceptable


You could consider arranging a single shipping day every week or two and dealing with the long round trip to UPS. If that isn't an option then your sarcastic comment about "giving it up" is probably what you need to do. There are always shows you can do if shipping is not an option. I know that i would never purchase anything from someone who only shipped second day

Shawn made 2 videos a few weeks back of all the dragons I sent him.. The two that they are NOW saying is dead is in those videos.. They are just fine not dead at all..

So please explain that as well????????

Do you have those videos downloaded Amanda. If you dont, I would do so now. Also, you should find out if there is a way to imbed them here by asking one of the mods, like Harald.
