My vet took a look at the body of the dead one this morning, and just called me.
She says the snake basically died of starvation, and it could not have starved in just 30 days. She feels it was not fed well (or at all) prior to me receiving it and my trying to feed it after it going without food for so long made it go into shock.
She's running more tests and sending some of the feces found in the snake to be tested for crypto and other infections.
As for the still-living one, she suggested I try a fluid regimen for a few days, then slowly start giving it nutrients so as not to put it through shock.
