In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

top dollar for that?

Is it just me or is it a little bit ridiculous for someone to ask top dollar for an animal simply because they can? For example; Someone wants to sell you an animal that normally sells for 400.00 but the animal has toe nips or tail nips (I know they're not usually a huge deal), the sex is not deffinite and the only back ground info they can give you on the animal is that they bought it from some guy named Bill, or Bob, or John Jacob Jingleheimershcmidt....:shootfoot

Personally I couldn't justify asking top dollar or paying it in such a situation but I wonder if it's just me.... I would think drop the price to maybe 250.00

What do you all think?

Well in this case make an offer lower than the asking price, you may find he lowers it. Some times people list something a little high anticipating on letting it go for less and in terms getting what they wanted for it!

I'll sell you my Emerald Tree Boa. Cheap at only $12,000. He's a northern.

See, I can price anything I have at whatever I want. Nice, I can call it my $12K ETB. But things are only worth what someone will pay for them.

My boss would say "At Harvard B School they say, 'That's what the market would bear'" but he's not here.

Do those things really devalue a given animal THAT much??
Sure, knock a little off for physical imperfections...but almost 40%??
(I figure if I need a specific gender, and the person can't guarantee I'm getting it, I'm not buying anyway...if I want it regardless of the gender, that doesn't matter)(afterthought well, unless there is a significant price difference between males and females)

As for the value of background information, that depends on the individual & the particular animal. I've paid full price for plenty of animals that the seller couldn't give a history on...*or I was pretty sure they pulled the info right out of their a$$, just to give me an answer I would like. Like gender, if it matters to me, I won't buy without the information; but I don't think it automatically knocks down the price.

What I dont understand is why folks think that every year the price should go down.

You dont see cars getting cheaper... and they are more of a necessity than herps.

The animal in question has a few imperfections for whatever reason.... but its not a genetics defect. I might see knocking a few $$ off for asthetics reasons.... but there is no way I would accpet what you are offering. I would politely decline the sale.
