It's Dave from Small Pet Feeders again with another fantastic feeder insect for your chameleons, geckos, and other exotic pets. To explain a bit of what we do, we buy our insects from all the top farms in the country, sparing no expense to bring you the best quality insects on the market today. We don't try to cut our costs by farming the insects ourselves, which can cause problems with bacteria, viruses, and just weak insects in general. Many of you I'm sure have fell victim to these practices by other companies, and we've decided to learn from their mistakes by only stocking the best products for our clients and their beloved animals. This time on special is our Teal Hornworm Pods. These "Pods" are self-contained environments in which your Hornworms will eat and live for about 2-3 weeks. These are the highly attractive Teal variety, making them great for picky eaters and animals on a hunger strike.
Hornworm Pods come in two sizes:
During warm weather, we usually only carry Small pods for a week or two at a time as they tend to grow quickly on their way to us and to you, even though they are chilled at 52-55 degrees while they are here with us. During this weather, we recommend you purchase Silkworm Pods with 50 worms each, which are of similar size and would be perfect feeders for geckos and smaller variety reptiles.
Nutritional Analysis of Manduca Sexta (Tobacco Hornworm)
Protein: 9%
Fat: 3.07%
Calcium: 46.4mg/100g
Moisture: 85%
Hornworms can reach up to 4 inches in size, provided they have ample food to reach that length (15ct Medium-Large Pods do). They are high in moisture and calcium, and low in fat and chitin, making them a very nutritious feeder for your reptiles.
