    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Top Shelf Exotics (Inquiry)

Blick. I'm just hearing about the gecko thing for the first time today. I haven't watched the local news on TV for a few days, so don't know about that - but as to the Buffalo News & other papers not carrying the story, I think they're not going to cover it because of the "girlfriend's apartment" thing. There are too many common denominators for this story NOT to be about Chris Johnson (Cheektowaga location, apartment rented by the girlfriend, as someone else pointed out).

If the gecko seizure WAS at C. Johnson's girlfriend's apartment, it wouldn't make as solid of a news story because first, the police couldn't be sure WHOSE geckos they were, and secondly, because this seizure involves a potential fraud business case. I'm sure the newshounds will be eager to throw this story around once a solid case has been started ... "Local business owner scams people throughout US of thousands of dollars", but not until the case moves forward.

The investigation, and the uncertainty of who actually possessed those geckos is why the SPCA story doesn't mention a name or address (other cruelty cases routinely mention addresses and names). The SPCA was probably told to keep information to a minimum until police find out how many locations, people, and animals Chris is involved with...

Dan, this thread is about Chris Johnson, not me, and not you. Try to keep it on topic. If you have some evidence that I have been "sticking up" for a known scammer, feel free to post it in its own thread. I'm sure that we'd all like to see it. :>poke2<:

Like Jim I also agreed with Chris's argument in that situation. It was the argument that I supported, not the man, or the colorful stuff he added. I didn't even like Chris very much back then and would have loved for a chance to rip his :censored: to pieces for any kind of nit picking. It was tough giving him a pass.


That said....I'm going to blow up my garbage pail and make a few steaks. Two more beers and I might blow up my steaks and make it with a garbage pail. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Hi all, I have been out of the loop for a long time, and just was wondering what is going on with top shelf, I bought a 1.2 of het albino balls last year, it took 1 month to ship, but 1 female died, they shipped me out a new one and it died about 2 months later, they sent out another and it also died, shortly after the other two both died as well, after that they stopped returning my emails, I have all of our emails saved, will that help out at all? Also is there no possible way to get our money back for the whole, fraud thing, and bogus gurantees?
Please let me know, if I need to contact anyone,

Sadly, you are out your money. From what I have gleaned, most here believe that the "hets" from TSE were actually captive hatched imported baby balls.

There is a legal case but since you can't yet prove or disprove te gentics of your animals you likely don't have much to go on with respect to that, but filing a report can't hurt. The info on that is in this thread in several places.
 
So all the snakes that TSE sent you died? Did you keep proof of the death of the snakes such as pictures that can be compared to those that came with their guarantee?
 
Looks like as of this morning, Chris deleted everything on his website that was left, all the photos and all the subdirectories etc. Hopefully anyone who needed those photos saved a copy on their own computer!
 
Not all of the snakes died, one died, he shipped out another, then that one died, and they shipped me another, then that one died. I have been keeping balls for about 6-7 years, and have questioned my husbandry about this problem, yet, I have 21 in total, and only the trio I bought from TSE are giving me problems, not eating and not growing, most definetly imports. HOw do I file a report

I can answer this one for you. Individual cases such as these, where Chris has taken money and not delivered animals, are simply cases of theft. Depending on the amount of money involved, a good majority of them would just be misdemeanors if prosecuted on their own.

To prove fraud, you need to show a pattern of behavior that Chris has/had intended to engange in a pattern of activity, to knowingly take peoples money with no intention of providing anything in return. This would elevate the individual misdemeanors to the felony level. It would appear the DA has placed the threshold of individual victims at ten. This is usually done to make a case so solid that the defendant has no choice but to plead guilty and take the deal offered.

Fraud cases can be very difficult to investigate and prosecute. They can take a considerable amount of time to complete, so keep this in mind. I know this from experience on the investigating side.

Seriously.....I'm sure he's been reading this thread all along, that's why I've thought perhaps some of the information given here may have been better left for PMs and emails. No sense in letting him stay one step ahead of what we are trying to do.

I have to say though.....IF these geckos seized indeed were Chris Johnsons.....wow, I didn't think I could feel much more contempt for the man than I already did....I guess I was wrong.

You got me on that one, but one things for certain, no matter which bunk he gets.....he's gonna be handling large snakes like he never has before.

I don't mean to make this thread a joke because I know how badly some of you got burned. My apologies if my posts have had that effect on you. I'm really sad that you guys and gals got taken and wish I had the kind of money on hand to cover your losses and dissapointment.

Maybe this has been discussed & I missed it, but does anyone have any reason to believe that "the guys" (Glenn & Patrick) really exist?

One of the things I noticed when I dealt with TSE (bought some het albino balls) is that the response to even the most polite inquiry was aggressive & rude, wether it was from Chris or Glenn. At the time I told my co-workers that I thought we were communicating with a single person.

I also checked the TSE feed-back e-mails, and reached a similar conclusion(e.g., most of them were written by the same author using different e-mail addresses).

Just a thought, I'd like to hear what you think.

IMO, there never was a Pat or Glenn. It was just another ploy that Chris played out.
