In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Touch of Class Reptiles

Since I am new to the herp community, I had no idea Kelvin's reputation, er - lack thereof, preceded him. But I am not the least bit surprised.

It is now 12:36pm on my computer and I have not heard anything from Kelvin regarding the $250.00 he promised to provide by 12/11/2009. I'll keep waiting for the day to end, but holding my breath will definitely not be on my list of things to do today. Thank you again to everyone who has loaned their attention to this matter. I only wish this matter could have been resolved. Sadly, my hopes are very low at this point.

I don't think the employee should of been help accountable as the owner (someone who has been in the industry for a while) should of known better than to ship the animals and the owner should of also been the one defending himself here.

Dustin,
The reason the employee was being held accountable was that he personally viewed and shipped the snakes. Alex was the last person to physically see those animals before they shipped and that is by his own words. When asked specific questions regarding this he avoided them and then completely stopped posting. By our viewing and what he's said he had a part in this and so ................. he to is being held accountable.

Right, but you're going to continue working for the scumbag.

Precisely.

I would like to make one final statement on this thread, as i hope it will close shortly. Today, I gave it another attempt and mentioned to Kelvin to give Jason a full refund. I hope he listened to me. With that being said I would also like to make it known that I will no longer be working at Touch of Class Reptiles. I will keep my reasons for resigning private. So please, do not ask me.

Thank You,
Alex Estrada

Resigning? Ahahahahaha....you work at a pet shop and get paid in cash. You're a funny kid.

So, did write out a letter or are you gonna text it to him? Ahahahahaha.

I'll take that bet Chuck!
I have faith that he will make good because he has been outed here and if he's smart, he will pay Jason and try to recover his reputation.

Randal Berry

I've got my 5 in with chuck.

Any other bets? Day isn't over yet..still plenty of time to get in on the action.

Randall, wanna go double or nothing that Kelvin uses the reasoning he lost an employee/translator is all because of this thread and therefore he will not refund a single dime?

I have to give Alex credit, he did take a stand with ToC, and walking away from a job, any job, in this economy is not easy to do. He took a lot of heat for a situation he had no power to resolve, and regardless of what the animals may or may not have looked like when packed, he is trying to salvage his own integrity and remove himself from Mr. Soto's influence. That says a lot to me.

And yet...there they are.

Seriously though, Alex, why are you quitting? You're his manager, you're his translator. You have leverage, but maybe your age and inexperience with employment isn't allowing you to see that.

If you like the staff, why are you quitting on them? Maybe they would like to see change too but don't know how to go about getting it done. You are their "go to" guy.

Listen, don't quit your job. Do things your way, the right way. If he don't like it, let him fire you. Now you have unemployment benefits while you search for a new job. It doesn't even matter if you were paid in cash, you're still entitled.

Maybe he sees what you're doing and has enough common sense to admit that's the way it should be done.

At least wait until x-mas and try and squeeze him for a bonus.

I really give Alex credit too. However, I can't see it fit to remove too much from his shoulders, as he was a big part in this, and is the critical link to making Kelvin understand he needs to give the OP his money back. Heck, Soto has really damaged his reputation a lot, Estrada could benefit the most in saving his reputation if he was able to get it through to Kelvin Soto that what he is doing is wrong and a terrible business decision. Clearing Estrada from any guilt would be like taking away the OP's last chance at getting his deserved money back, as he is the only one to appear to have a conscience at Touch of Class, and maybe even the only one with any business sense.

So in a way I feel for you a lot actually. You are in the middle of a huge mess. But you have a lot of power yet to keep your own name alive. I would not give up on this thread yet Alex.

It has been made clear to Mr. Soto what needs to be done, and he is choosing not to do it. Short of dipping into his own pocket there is nothing more Alex can do, and I don't think it's fair to hold an employee financially liable for an owner's shady business.

Hey everyone, Jason Here,

I wanted to let everyone know that I have received a notice today from Kelvin Soto, as well as from paypal that I will be receiving an eCheck in the amount of $500.00 to refund the purchased that I have made with Touch of Class, less the veterinary fee's that I have agreed to claim financial responsibility for and the cost of shipping, which I am also more than willing to accept. This is a bit of a shock, because I truly expected the worst from this situation, though I am happy to say that this was not so. Feel free to view this notification yourselves at the link that I have posted below:

http://sites.google.com/site/olexianpro/

Though I am still disheartened with the manner in which this situation initially developed, despite minor personal losses I can now say that the final outcome of my business transaction with Touch of Class has ended in a more positive manner.

The remaining matter that bothers me is that an innocent animal, which had no representation in any of these matters, is now dead and really for what cause? This simply was not fair for the snake and as a veterinary student I feel horrible. Fortunately, some good will come of this and for the remaining snake, the deceased body will enable us to better direct our course of therapy once the necropsy has been performed.

I did not receive any final instruction from Kelvin concerning the remaining living individual and how he wishes this to handle this matter however, until otherwise notified I will continue to fund veterinary therapy at my own expense and will keep all of you posted concerning its status. I would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to view and comment on this thread and I will leave all of you with a paraphrased quote that was given to me by an admired college:

We are seldom recognized for the positive actions that we conduct from day to day however, we will always be remembered for the manner in which we accommodate the displeasure's of our clientele and peers.

Thank you all!

Sincerely,
Jason Olech

And there you have it Tony C. I think Alex Estrada had a huge part in Jason getting his money back. We can now end this thread by saying the issue is resolved, and there is a huge thanks to Alex Estrada. As a translator, he had more power than some people gave him credit, so he did have more blame in Soto's actions than most people could see, but with that, he gets to take the most credit when a good thing comes of it.

Good Job Alex!
