In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi,
I have a ten month old red foot tortoise. I am moving to Greece for study abroad in September and really cannot stand to leave him behind. Does anyone know about international flights with tortoises? The only information I can find is about cats, dogs, birds, etc.
Thanks,
Bobbie

You'll need to start now. I've shipped my wife's beloved beardie to and from the UK due to her studies, and each time it's taken 3-4 months to set everything up.

My biggest tips:

1) Assume everyone is criminally incompetent. Never, EVER just accept what they tell you - call back two more times and get the same info from 2 other people. Only once three people have independently confirmed the information did I accept it. You would be *amazed* how long it took me to get to that point.

2) Look into the Pet Travel Scheme, which is a special system for pet transport between EU countries (of which Greece is one), recently expanded to cover travel to and from the US

3) You'll need someone to receive the tortoise when shipping it in each direction.

4) Insulate the hell out of it. I thought I did a good job of that, and the lizard STILL was cold when my wife got her, and developed a URI.

5) Under no circumstances should you use US Airways. Sell the tortoise before you use them.
