    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has traveled long distances in a car with their cham. I had posted a thread about cham keeping in Florida a few months ago and I just found out that I am definitely moving there. I searched the forum and couldn't find any threads on this.

I don't think that shipping will be an option for me because I have no one and no cage to ship him to until I am there. I also have no one here that would be able to ship him to me after I move. Thus I think he will have to go on the 29 hour drive with me.

Any suggestions on how to house him or provide heat and water during the journey?

Howdy,

I'd think that you'd be ok by keeping him in the dark for the entire trip. You may want to keep hm in a box around the size of 1'x1'x1' or a little smaller. Have nice sized branches to support him well along with some cushioning on the bottom if he gets knocked loose. He's likely to sleep the entire time if kept in the dark. Try to get him heavily hydrated before the trip. He won't need food or water for those 29 hours. If you can keep the temp above roughly 65F, I wouldn't think that heat would not be an issue during the trip either.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about just putting him in a box. Someone recommended one of those portable avian incubators made from ice chests. You can plug them into the cigarette lighter and set the temp. They also tend to stay really humid. I think they are really expensive, though.
