This pretty lizard is active day and night and like a little 12 cm crocodile, with its ribbed scales and long snout, is very at home in the water. When disturbed, it often retreats into the water, or hides under rocks. This species is ovoviviparous, giving birth to 3-6 young. Keep in a water based set up like you might for salamanders or fire belly toads. Are great for display paludariums and will not destroy the decor.
