Remember my comment regarding the timing of this thread?
I did not claim that NOW was the time for EVERYONE to make amends. Nor did I ever state that I expect everyone to do so. Some things will never change, and I can't expect anyone to do anything they are not ready for. If someone still feels the need to make jabs and attacks at another member, please do not do it here. I can't stop people from posting, and I accept that. However, this is the "Truce" thread, and I would hope that posts here are ones that belong here.
I don't think that anyone wants to be known as the person who turns threads into argumentative pissing contests. If that's the case however, please don't piss all over any hope of fixing things between other members. I see this thread as an opportunity for some of us to rectify things that have been said or done in the past week. If you would rather participate in a thread about the top 10 people that have pissed you off in the last week, start one.
I've gotten positive feedback, whether it be points, PM's, posts, emails or whatever regarding some of the comments I have made in the past few days. I find it confusing though that some of the people who apparently support the intent behind this thread, are actually some of the ones who continue with the bickering and 'disguised' attacks. What's the deal?
Surely you all know the serenity prayer. Some things you cannot change. One of the most important lessons to take from that is that you cannot change some PEOPLE. I don't expect to change people. All I hope for is to help just a few people see things differently. Some are willing to look at this from a different perspective, and apparently some are not. That's the way it is, but if you fall into the latter category, why bring up your 'beef' here?
One of the people I want to apologize to is Marcia. No, I did not post, PM or email anything regarding my thoughts about some of the things she said. In fact, they stayed right in my head for me to think about before I acted upon them. Marcia, I misjudged you, and I am sorry. One of your posts on the Robin? thread had really disappointed me. At the time, I was thinking that I really expected more from you...more neutrality, more wisdom, more compassion. Then I tried to think about what type of situation and perspective you were coming from when you said what you did (and I honestly don't remember it exactly, and I really don't care to revisit that thread right now.) I think you saw a close friend coming under attack and scrutiny. You stood up for her, and didn't hold back. Now
that's a friend, and I respect you for that.
Robin, at one point you stated that I 'have no idea'. You're absolutely right. Sure, at first I saw it as the wolves targeting their attack toward me, and I acted defensively. You're statement though was totally provoked by me questioning you about the Portuguese statement, which I should NOT have done. I'm nearly red-faced with embarassment for having done so. Considering the situation, it was very vindictive and cruel, and I apologize.
I guess I don't really know what else to say right now, so I'll shut up. (you're welcome
