In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Alright, I thought I had a good deal going, but as everything went on it started sounding fishy.

First the guy has a nice snake for sale that I particularly need. He's got no references, no boi, no rating, but the guy seems decent, and even posts a photo of the snake with my name by it.

So his first strike was saying that he'll only take a money order addressed to his mother. Then I tell him that's fine, have your mother call me, and make sure she's there to accept the money order. So he then pm's me back and say's never mind send the money to me.

Also with pricing he says $300 plus shipping, and shipping will be $60. I agree. Then he tells me it's going to be $380 shipped.

Well we also agreed that I'd send the money on Monday, and he'd ship on Tuesday, but he JUST informed me that he has to order a shipping kit.

I kind of feel bad because this kid sounded like a good buy, but I can't afford to send nearly $400 on something that may or may not be legit.
Did I have a legit reason to call this off or am I just crazy? I've gotta say if I'm gonna send you my hard earned money you better be prepared, and know what you're doing.

Let me know what you guys think?

If you feel any doubt walk away.

I wouldn't buy it. If he does get shady and disappear you have no recourse with the M.O. Now if you could pay with a CC thru paypal I would probably give it a shot....:shrug01:

Try an inquiry on the BOI to see if anyone else has dealt with them. If yes, then maybe. Assuming the response is positive.

Ask for referances and check them out too.

Otherwise I would keep looking

I believe in giving people the benefit of a doubt...I really do. I don't believe in being a fool. Asking for a M.O is the first red flag, changing the story is another, then not having his mother get involved...too many red flags.

Personally, I wouldn't even waste my time. The animal will come again in a less risky fashion. As it is..if the dude is this "wiggy" about the form of payment, getting parent involved, etc..how do we even know if the snake is the correct sex?

Just too many red flag variables for me, but hey..I have been known to be wrong before... :)

I agree with Deborah. Plus trying to make a deal with a minor (if this seller is a minor) can be fraught with difficulties.

Warning signals all over this one. Pay the extra for a quality animal from a good rep dealer, your wallet may cry for an hour but you'll have a nice critter to show for it.

I also forgot to mention, and somewhat feel like it shouldn't be an issue, but the animal originally was purchased from highendherps.com
In my opinion for the most part that didn't matter. I didn't feel this guy should be labeled bad just because he did business with heh. But then with the other stuff then I grew suspicious.

Is he offering any guarantees being that he sounds like a kid Dustin? I would be very cautious about sending anyone a MO that had no reputation that I could check out and verify from someone I know I could trust. Just be careful sir. Id hate to see your inquiry turn into a bad guy thread.

I just had a deal go South because of a few red flags that were raised during the payment process. I feel bad about it because normally I like to trust people but like others have said, you have to go with your gut feeling and my gut said use caution. After all was said and done and explanations were made I do believe that everything would have gone of without a hitch and I could be enjoying my new animals now but I made a judgment call and that was it. Sounds like you did the same thing. I know you are second guessing yourself and that's Ok to a point but don't let it bother you too much.

:iagree: If you do end up doing this make sure to CYA and use a Postal money order. It'll give you the better chance at reimbursement if something does go wrong.

Definitely. It's not often you come across a perfect match like that. Don't know when I'll get another chance like that.

I have to agree alot of Red Flags being throwin in I mean it might be legit and He's trying to get ahold of things and make sure everything is done correctly So he dosent end up with Negitave feedback. I mean it could be he bought something his mother didnt aprove of and she wants its gone never really know in a situation like this But the sayin goes better safe than sorry

Turn it down.
When something seems fishy to you, don't even kid yourself with reasons why it might be legit. Making that mistake could very well end up finding the kid's name on the BOI- when you post a thread about him.
