I've gotta say I'm actually a bit surprised...

On the one hand... Pruett has always been nothing more than a two bit jobber. He buys crappy animals, gives them crappy care while in his posession and neglects to tell his potential customers that they'll be getting C and D grade stock from him. Plus he's absolutely clueless when it comes to shipping; both practicalities and legalities...

But he generally seems to only really and truly rip off people he has a personal grudge against. It was always motivated by a kind of idiotic vindictivness rather than a desire to obtain money for nothing. Meaning... he'd happily misrepresent something and sell you an animal guaranteed to die before the week was out but he only took money and gave NOTHING to people he had a grudge against. Doesn't make it right by any stretch, just seems to have been his pattern in the past. Crappy animals to people he doesn't know, nothing whatsoever to people he dislikes.

So while I think he's absolute scum and would love to see him completely out of the industry and without any animals as a personal collection... and kind of an idiot since his husbandry and shipping practices are so crappy... and definitely criminal since he misrepresents things and WILL flat out steal from people he dislikes... I am kind of surprised to see that he's removed that distinction and is now simply taking money and sending nothing to people he's had no prior contact with.

He had a huge grudge against me then acted somewhat cool to me (weird at the time) and kept asking for two tree boas. I delivered them and he never sent the money. One quote from him was 'F' you, you're rich, you don't need the money. Another was posted on a forum saying 'You got 'F'd'.

So what you say makes perfect sense to me.....

Thanks to everyone who has responded to my posts.

Based on the information I’ve read and heard about Bobby Pruett’s reputation in the herp. world, I am afraid of the outcome of our transaction.

However, I am trying to stay positive and hope that despite his past I will receive the healthy and problem free "CBB 100% het for albino fat-tails" that are displayed here:

Updates

I made contact with Bobby via phone on Dec. 31. soon after I made my New Years Eve post. I found a secondary number not posted on his website.

He was in Indiana visiting family and said he would be back in town next week and that he would call me when he got back home.

At this time I am in limbo waiting until next weeks contact from him.

The weather in my area this week is in the 60s and slowly creeping up to the 70s. The weather in his area is mostly in the 30s and low 40s still. I hope things warm up in his area a little by next week to permit shipment of the geckos.

The number I called was of a Chryl Pruett who resides in Indiana. Her name is on the contact page of Bobby's website arborealsetc.com.

Bobby was truthfully in Indiana when I called, I was actually shocked to get in contact with him via her number, thinking that he was still in Sandusky, OH.

I bet he was just as surprised to hear from me as I was to hear from him...

We'll see what happends when he gets back to Sandusky.

Well I can promise you this.....after reading this thread I bet he won't screw you now. You did the right thing by coming forward and he will most likely want to look like a good guy in 'this situation' and he will say he was just on vacation....oops he already did that lol! Hopefully for the future, the BOI has opened your eyes a bit and you will be careful who you deal with....good luck with this one!

All Ohio Reptile Show (AORS)

Since weather is getting worse for shipping in both Bobby's area and in mine, I have agreed to go WAY out of my way and attend the AORS on Jan. 22nd to pick up the geckos.

I am to meet a private breeding couple at the show by the name of Barbara and Rick Harvey who frequent the AORS's and have requested information about them in a new thread.

Bobby will not be able to make the show and has suggested that he give the geckos to Barbara and Rick to give to me at the show...

They don't have a website; I can't find anything via search engines...

I am getting stretched pretty thin and want to ensure that Rick and Barbara (if I can find information) are decent people and have a good reputation with their customers. According to Bobby they are good people who he can trust the gecko's care to.

I'd make it clear to Bobby that he should also give them what you paid for them too incase they are not acceptable. I'll get in touch with a few people I know and see if Barbara and Rick are known. I'll get back to you when I find out anything.

Wait a second....isn't this the same exact thing he did to a fifteen year old kid, Philip Salee, in Kentucky? Bobby kept telling Philip to go to the Kentucky show to pick up an animal that he owed him....month after month after month! I would be really careful now Tish! From what I know Bobby has been banned from the Ohio show and that's most likely why he can't 'make the show'. If the geckos are packed properly you should have no problems at all with shipping even if it's cold out. I would rethink what you are about to do.

How far away is the show from you?

Is Pruett going to pay you for your time and gas?

Do you have pictures of the original animals he was suppose to send but didn't?

Can you make sure these will be the same animals?

I do have a picture of the geckos and will use it as a comparison tool.

The show is in Ohio... 7.5hrs away from me.

I didn't request gas money because this is a decision I made on my own / not suggested by Bobby.

I can’t prove that the people he trusts the geckos to will be there and whether or not they are the same geckos as those advertised on his website... However, I have emailed some terms today to Bobby regarding what is to take place at the AORS listed below. I am now waiting on his reply to whether or not he agrees to the terms.

Since you are unable to make the All Ohio Reptile
Show, and you are trusting Barbara and Rick to finish
your transaction with me, there are some things that
should be considered:

1) A time where I am to meet them at the show is
requested. A time that is mutually convenient for all
parties involved in this transaction.

2) If the geckos are in an unacceptable condition
when I arrive to pick them up: weak, lethargic,
noticeably under fed, diseased, broken limbs, detached
tails, scarred, not eating (feeding problems), etc...
If they are not the geckos in the picture provided on
your website a refund is warranted.

*** I am requesting that Barbara and Rick be given the $250 in case of a refund.

*** I paid the price for the healthy looking geckos posted on
your website and that is what I expect to receive from Barbara and/or Rick Harvey.

2) If for any reason Barbara and/or Rick Harvey don't
show up to the reptile show with the geckos as well as
refuse to provide a phone number to where I can
successfully contact them for alternate meeting
arrangements, A full refund of the $250 I paid for the
geckos is warranted.

3) Barbara and Rick should know that I paid you full
price for the geckos and should not request any
additional money from me for any reason.

4) Barbara and Rick should be able to get into contact
with you on the spot if any problems should arise.

I am sure I will get the healthy geckos I paid you for
with no problem… the above TERMS is the WHAT IF
scenarios that can potentially happen and what needs
to occur if they do.

I am supposed to hear back from Bobby with the contact information of Barbara and Rick before the week is out or hear from Barbara or Rick themselves.

We shall see...

Note:
He did email me Monday when he got back into town as promised and mentioned that he is working on compiling the information I requested about the geckos to be sent to me via email and postal.

I want to be able to say that the end result of the transaction between Bobby and I was a success and that I am extremely happy with the geckos I purchased from him.

Lets hope that this turns out to be truth...
