CB Tylototriton Shanjing 5/08/2025 hatch 2 ¾” to 3 ¼” in length. Unsexed 3/$360. additional/$120. ea. - Minimum 3 to ship Many available. Note: This is a firm price.
These Shanjing are kept fully aquatic with floating plants (Elodea najas, hornwort, water sprite), plastic plants, plastic feeding rings (excellent for giving them a place to rest while keeping them wet) and cork bark to rest if necessary. Feasting on frozen bloodworm, frozen brine shrimp, live blackworms and whiteworm and crushed snails. A variety of small pellets are fed with the other foods but not sure if newts or snails are consuming them.
Mandarin newts (Tylototriton shanjing) are sub-tropical. They prefer 68 to 80F and breed for me at 77F. I keep these on the “warm side” of the basement with 80+ freshwater fishtanks. Temps there are 72-78 year round. As adults they do enjoy using the cork bark to rest out of the water but always go back in to feed. Shanjing are active during the day and quickly figure out who feeds them. My two females will beg along the sides of the tank when I pass. They have trained me to feed them extra live blackworms when they do this…
Shipping by UPS Overnight service with live guarantee only. This runs $90. - $120. Having them shipped to a UPS facility (storefront or full shipping center) may be the best way to ensure live delivery. Please contact by private e-mail . Local pickup in Chicago area. Serious inquiries only please.
