In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello,

I am a python guy, but when I saw this little guy I fell in love. He was sold as a Desert Banded Calif Kingsnake. But after posting on another board many people have suggested he may be other types, Cali Common King, cali 50/50, and so on. Can you all please check this pick out of 'Spot' and tell me what you think. Thank you all ahead of time! :)

It's a nice Ca. desert banded king.

The 50-50s have half black and half white, unless you but from someone that doesn't know that 50-50 means half and half, and I have seen LOTS of them that are not 50-50 sold as 50-50.

There are lots of color variation and if you breed your little friend you could get all kinds of cool stuff.

They're great little snakes but don't do well with company, or at least not for long.

Wilomn. Is the Cali Common King and the Cali Desert Banded King the same animal? If not, what is the diff?

The first pic should be a brown and yellow coastal phase Cal. King. She's blue but you can see the color difference.

The second pic should be of a black and white desert Cal. King. She's real close to 50-50.

Both desert and coastal phases come in banded, striped and aberrant. Then there are the bananas and ivories and aztecs and tiretracks and whatnots.

I suspect we'll see a pattern boom on these in the next few years.

The colors.

If it were a coastal it would have yellow or at best a creamy light colored banding. That one is too white to be coastal. Unless it's just the picture and it's much more yellow in person.

I suppose there are scale counts that could be done to determine an exact location but with sooooo much private breeding of this snake for sooooo long the gene pools are incredibly mixed.

So, no absolutes but, I'd still say desert just going by the photo.

It is more creamy or neon yellowish in person, but like you said, who knows what the genetic history is. I will just go with Cali King (male).

If it is yellow then I would agree whole heartedly that it is a coastal.

They are very cool snakes. Good luck.
