In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I don't even know where to start. Maybe I'm taking what was said the wrong way, but I can't really think of how else it was meant and I'm really offended.

Basically, the way I discovered the comment was because I monitor incoming links for CornsnakeMorphGallery.com because if people post suggestions, things they'd like to see on other forums, I'd like to know to see if I can give them what they want. I followed a link to a UK forum where someone had made a post just sharing the link, and the second response to the OP was "Shame it's american." WTF? Why would someone say something like that? They don't know me. What does me being American have to do with the quality of information of the free site I provide. It's not an "american only" website, it is free for all to use across the world.

Now, before someone says it, this has nothing to do with my site being sort of bashed...Most of the thread turned into talking about how Ian's Vivarium was better...Don't care that they think that, they're entitled to their opinion.

I was just really shocked when I read that Racist? Countryist? Elitist? comment in regards to something I do for free for the Cornsnake community. I probably shouldn't take it to heart, it is the internet after all, but it is not the first time I've seen comments made such as this. What is the deep seated hatred the UK has for Americans? Why make such nasty comments to innocent individuals?

Ok...Feel a little better after my rant...

You obviously have not left the US much, Steph. It is not just the UK, but about 90% of the planet that, in general, dont have the best feelings towards the US as a whole.

It really had nothing to do with you, your site or the information..... just simply the fact it was American at its root.

No, I haven't. Been barely out of Pennsylvania (three states, whoo!). :)

I guess it just hurt my feelings because I didn't do anything to deserve a comment like that and I couldn't imagine saying something like that. Just because some people are jerks in the US doesn't mean what they say or do is all of our responsibility. I realize I shouldn't take it personally (especially from something on the internet), but I was just stunned.

Hatred is based in jealousy and fear.

It's too bad those that posted cannot look inside themselves and try to understand their own insecurities that cause them to act the way they do.

I agree with Sammy. Also, generally speaking, when I was in Europe (this was 98) I noticed a lot of "Countryist" as in, this country thought they were so much better than their neighboring one or comments like "those **** people are all so rude and loud". Even people in the same country disliking the 'northern half' and vise versa (I'm not talking about Ireland haha). Just seemed like the pride in ones own country was very deep in their culture.

People that found out I was from the U.S. always asked "New York or San Francisco"
:D

Sadly, all that most people from other countries see first hand of the US is the actions of our government and tourists (generally the very wealthy) from our country. Which neither are true representatives of the average American. Only they dont know that. So I understand why they feel the way they do, in general, about the US. As misguided as it is.

Actually, what some people don't realize is that the REPRESENTATIVES we vote into office to represent us in legislative, judicial, and administrative USA affairs are representing US, as a people, to the entire world as well.. And, of course, even the relatives of those representatives we vote into office will paint a picture that other countries will judge us by....

I have a lot offriends in the UK, Africa, and many other areas in the world.

Some tell me just becuase i am an american I would be looked at different when I visit.

But I ask you this. Dont we do the same to other people from other countries here. Not saying you or I do I am saying in general.

I kept my first post short since I don't want to get into a long rant about jealousy, hatred, love, possessions, etc. But I do want to add something based off of what Sammy has said.

A lot of people in various countries do not agree with U.S. foreign policies. Hell, a lot of people in the U.S. don't agree with U.S. foreign policies. But to take it to a level of individual hatred is an unhealthy response to a persons own uncontrolled emotions. A lot of people need to learn to let go of the things they cannot control, and learn to enjoy the things they can a little more.

Hatred is bad, look what it did to Darth Vader....lol

Yes....exactly. How many people in this country hate people from the middle east? Out of simple fear. Scared that a terrorist might somehow hurt them or their loved ones.

In reality the vast majority are people just like me. People that want to find their place in this world, want their children to grow up safe and have a meaningful life of their own.

Yes, I guess there is a chance that you and your loved ones could die in a terrorist attack. But why spend your whole life, living in fear, and hating individuals you will never meet? Why not let it go with the understanding that it is possible and there is most likely nothing you can do to stop it if it is to happen. Instead focus your energy enjoying the things you love in life, whether it be your kids, your reptiles, or for someone like me a little of both.

Maybe they were just disappointed? I get sad when a cool place isn't here.

And get real she was going hiking - you go in a bloody suit. At least this set can speak coherently.

I'm British, have lived in many countries outside the UK for the past 20 years, have traveled in the US many times, and have a sister married and living in the US. Here's my 2 cents (or as we'd say in England my two-pennyworth).

It goes on a bit, as I've had time to think about this - I often work with American tourists and students, and I get asked this question surprising often. (I hope it doesn't offend - it's meant to be true but lighthearted. ;)

There always has to be someone to be pissed off at, and it's always going to be the big guy. Effectively it's resentment of the country with the most power. It used to be us (the "British Empire" etc), chucking our weight around the globe. This century it's you guys. It's a lot easier to travel on a British passport now, because most of the attention has passed to the USA, (thanks!) but in the early 20th century in India or the Middle East (or many parts of Africa), the British weren't very popular.

It pays to remember that what people react to is essentially a perceived caricature of the national character - I don't want to be thought of as a drunk football hooligan vandalising stadiums and causing mass fights, but to some Europeans, that what a Brit is. To Australians we are "Whinging Poms", ie people who bitch and moan and are negative about everything, and when I've seen British tourists en masse I understand where that comes from (it's horribly TRUE ), but (I hope) it doesn't apply to me, and I don't resent the name.

Just in case you didn't know, Americans have two basic national caricatures overseas:

1. The slightly amusing, possibly a bit unsophisticated, enthusiastic tourist with large cameras, a lot of money, loud clothes and even louder voices. This is based on the people we see touring old castles and cathedrals, marveling (loudly!) about anything more than 100 years old. It's "Old World" snobbery. Ignore it, it's meant almost affectionately (except maybe check volume control in conversations - a small group of chatting Americans can drown out a whole room of inhibited Brits).

2. Less amusing, the "World Police" image which has proliferated in the last decade. I am not a political animal (it's why I live as far away from the "Real World" as I could get) and am not commenting on any country's overseas policy, but people of most other nationalities in the world do not like the position the US is in militarily or environmentally. Your last president was universally hated and mocked outside the USA, and of course he was the most visible representative of your country, so Americans in general got tarred with the same brush. Immediately Barack Obama was elected, this started to improve - whatever his policies, irrelevant of his colour, you are now represented by someone with intelligence and eloquence, and he is MUCH better thought of overseas. If you keep him, I think you'll find that the American image improves dramatically.

Having painted these two broad pictures, the Americans I meet (who travel a lot) are NOTHING like either case, and are practically invariably intelligent, funny, open, and amazingly generous and hospitable. But to find this out, and to judge people on their individual merits, either they have to travel to you, or you have to go to them. When you get Brits who don't get out, talking to Americans who stay at home, all you have to go on is that damned caricature.

So my message is, don't take it personally, please travel and show people what Americans really are, and try not to talk religion or politics at the dining table!

Was it a link to the home page of the site or a specific animal? Because that comment sounds like something I'd say (obviously with the subject changed) about a beautiful snake that I'd likely never have a chance to own or see in person because it's overseas.

It could also have more to do with the differences in general reptile keeping practices between the U.S. and European countries, as opposed to any political differences. :shrug01:

I know that a lot of people that keep herps in more of a "european style" (naturalistic display vivaria) will mock "american style" keepers (snakes in shoeboxes).

Who knows...... it's a nice site anyway. I appreciate the effort and time that you have taken to give people a good reference to all the corn morphs that are out there........

.......too bad it's Pennsylvanian.....:dgrin:

I don't think that applies here because the site isn't about husbandry. Like I said, it's not the first time I've read a comment like that in reference to a US site.

:raspberry

People hate americans due to the picture painted by the media and the people we are represented by. Mostly it is just ignorance to a particular culture.

People are just naturally hateful about things they don't understand or don't know about. I like to learn so I just keep a neutral approach to everything and just find out about stuff. I find that people and their prejudices are funny. Everyone through out history as well as today are prejudice. I mean think about it British people hate Americans (and vise versa), Whites dont like Blacks (Blacks also don't like Whites), Everyone in america hates middle eastern people (and don't even account for people in India, Sri Lanka, Israel, etc to us everyone is Taliban). Its just an unfortunate fact.

So I wouldn't let it bother you because it is the opinion of a few people not the whole country and you can't blame that country as a whole for the stupidity of a few ignorant people who refuse to learn further past the 3rd grade. I can't even count the times I have heard british people referred to as Limey bastards in this country. Everyone just simply has their stereotypes and prejudices and there isn't much you can do to change that.

The folks from the UK hate everyone especially the guys, the women want to move to the US ...there for the guys hate Americans.

Ask anyone from England what they think of the french....I will answer that...they hate the french also. its not just the younger folks and the chavies. seems like the larger part of the people hate everybody.

It also seems like the larger part of the population there do enjoy their alcoholic beverages a wee too much. :)

When I said the people of the UK, that is maybe too much of a generalization. I would rather leave the people from Wales and Scotland out of it.:)
