In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

UK's Hatred of America?

So I wouldn't let it bother you because it is the opinion of a few people not the whole country and you can't blame that country as a whole for the stupidity of a few ignorant people who refuse to learn further past the 3rd grade. I can't even count the times I have heard british people referred to as Limey bastards in this country. Everyone just simply has their stereotypes and prejudices and there isn't much you can do to change that.

It also seems like the larger part of the population there do enjoy their alcoholic beverages a wee too much.

Way to demonstrate his points Ed.

When I said the people of the UK, that is maybe too much of a generalization. I would rather leave the people from Wales and Scotland out of it.:)

You don't think the Scots like a dram????:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Still can't work out whether people in the UK are negative because they drink, or drink because they are negative.

Either way, as in all stereotypes there's some truth and a lot of exceptions. I've always said I'm happy to be FROM Britain, just have no desire to be IN it... :D

My partner's a Scot - PLEASE don't tell him he's less negative than the English. I'll never live it down! ;)

PS; just to make things more confusing; all Scots ARE Brits - just not all Brits are Scots.... :dgrin:

Oh I know they do, what I meant is they are not as negative as the Brits I know. the Scots can squeeze a penny so hard you can hear it squealing down on the river salmon fishing in a gushing rushing loud river.:)

I'm part Scot and that really cracked me up. My Scottish family is always happy go lucky regardless of the situation and it's seems like everything can be made into a joke.

A know A LOT of European people who are close friends and have dual citizenship between their home land and here in the US. No in general Americans are not well liked in other countries. They've admitted this very honestly to me. They weren't trying to be hurtful but attempted to help me understand their perspective. They've called Americans loud, rude, obnoxious, cruel, snobby and several other derogatory names. Yes the media, tourists and movies has A LOT to do with this. Along with the way the country has been ran and is being run. They also look at it as large a difference in lifestyle. I had been told that most Americans are considered very lazy because of poor work and family ethic and extremely high obesity rate. I've even traveled out of this country had the comment made to me by a man who said "You can't be an American. You're not fat." Talk about rude. That's not the first time comments like that have been made to me.
But "let yee without sin cast the first stone" when it comes to judging before knowing.
It's human nature to judge as whole based on what you've seen then individuals you know. (That's not directed and anyone just a general statement) It's really sad.

So yes. The media and several other things has not helped other countries to see Americans in a good light. I deeply hope that changes and others' views of us improves.

I have heard the fat lazy american comment many times from an English man or woman on English soil. there is certainly hatred towards americans abroad that only we can change by showing ourselves in a more positive light.

I was accepted because of my Irish/English background(looks), could have been different if I announced myself as an american in a pub full of English blokes. :) heck of an experience.

I've been out of the country a bit and Americans can be quite obnoxious, they go to foreign countries and expect everyone there to speak English. I mean I went to the UK many years ago and some of the people there were speaking English and I could only understand every other word...lol.
Don't take it personal Steph, not only are we exposed to the world via our not-so-popular governmental policies, like starting wars at the drop of a hat, but we pretty much dominate the internet as well, so we are 'overexposed' there as well.

I'm from the uk, and i have no problem with americans at all. Some brits just have a bit of an elitist attitude that hangs around them like a bad smell ( especially the aristocracy ). It might sound a bit of a cliche but i say live and let live.
