    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Uncooled Female BP

I have actually heard from a couple of people who breed at the wheaton expo that the cooling period is a myth and is not needed? Secondhand knowledge, but I am curious, is there any truth to it?

Not cooled.

I knew that colubrids could have good clutches without being cooled, but wasn't sure about BP's. We just bought a new house last year and we moved during November month. Well my female BP ended up pregnant (I know it sounds weired, but I was thinking, "Man did she just cool in that short amount of time it took us to move bc I know there was a drop in temp for her, but it only lasted a week) and I thought they would all be duds, but she had 100% healthy bp babies. I've always cooled all of mine, but the reason I was asking is bc I'm getting ready to pick up 2 large girls next weekend who have not been cooled, but I have a mojave and a lesser platnium that I want to put with them, but I don't want it to be a waste of time if the female doesn't take. Thanks for any and all responses!!!!

SPJ you give me hope! haha

Steve, Is this the 1st time you have gotten eggs from an un-cooled female?If not,what was your success rate on that clutch/es?Thanks, John

The only time I bombed was when I tried to pair up some BP's in August when it was hot. They paired up but no eggs.

Oops. Let me clarify the hatch rate.
One egg had twins in it. Only one survived. The other died right after emerging.

You could always use your quarantine period to do any feed or temp cycling you wanted...:rolleyes:...

Bingo! Don't rush things. It's better to miss a year than to risk your established animals. Quarantine, quarantine, quarantine! 3 months minimum. Why do we all have to learn this the hard way? UGH! :shrug01: 3 months gives you time to make sure they're healthy as well as cycle them if you so choose. You have to protect your male, he doesn't know any better. Lol.
