In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Undergroundreptiles bought terrarium for chameleon

Long story short I did tons of rresearch and everything I read was to get a repribreeze. But checked out UG this past Friday and was sold

Greg, can you go into a little more detail about the 'was sold' part? Did the salesperson just offer another perspective? (As Dan did, saying that he has had veileds in glass enclosures) or how exactly did the 'was sold' deal go down?

Says in their TOS that they don't do refunds, but do give store credit. Unless I read wrong. So I wonder why the employees that were there when you went back didn't just issue you a store credit to begin with?

So since you posted here, the owner said that his TOS were void, and now you don't get a store credit either?

Hmm.

I understand and yes I did my research on the correct housing but after I got there I figured they would know best. Basically I am stuck with about $220 of stuff I don't need now. He basically told me the mesh cage wouldn't create enough humidity for the chameleon and the chameleon has to have substrate in his cage. Funny because everything I see on chameleon forums says the complete opposite.

What does or doesn't work best for a chameleon is irrelevant to this thread in my opinion. You should never trust a pet store to tell you what's best for your pet, because you should already know that. They are there to sell you a product and that's it, they gotta put food on the table just like everyone else. If it makes you feel better about the situation, to me it sounds like the setup you purchased will work fine for your chameleon.

I came in mentioning a reptibreeze enclosure but was told the glass ones were a better solution because they hold more humidity

What I wanted to return
24x18x24 terrarium
1 bag of bark
1 6-8 inch diameter grape vine

Stuff I was keeping
Cricket food
Cricket D3 powder
Fake vines
Basking lamp and bulb
UVB enclosure
2 spiral UVB bulbs
crickets
cricket holder

I also agree that it was a bit early to post. However, I think it's total crap that they won't give you store credit because of your post.

I asked them while I was there to contact the owner but was told to call or come back after 4. Well I don't exactly live down the street from there. So I emailed the facebook page figuring the owner would get it. Someone said to call back at 2. I then went back in and asked if they could call him and they said he was at the gym. At the point I felt I was getting the run around and posted here.

On the phone I said look if you do the right thing I will post it on the forum so people see you are doing your best to work with me but he said what is done is done.

That sounds like a suggestion. It doesn't sound like a pressure tactic. It doesn't soun d as if you 'were sold'. it seems like they made a suggestion and you agreed and purchased the terrarium. You could have simply thanked the salesperson for the suggestion and asked to see the reptibreeze, yes?

I didn't see reptibreeze enclosures, just terrariums. At least I wasn't shown one

If they didn't have what you wanted, could you have gone somewhere else?

I could have but I listened to him thinking the glass would be best, I didn't even realized the no refund policy until I got there today. That part is my mistake, I never buy from places with no refunds.

I don't know chameleon's but I do know people. Figuring the guy selling you something is the best person to provide advice on what your buying isn't always the best idea. In a perfect world everyone would be honest but that isn't the case. To be fair I have a easier time believing the seller may have actually believed the information he was providing was factual then I do that you allowed one person's opinion change your mind after doing so much research. I have no connection to UG & hate to sound as if I'm taking a side here, especially after reading some of there previous BOI post but in this case there is just something missing.

If you were going to decide against all the information from your reseach, why did you choose to get advice from UG rather then the seller of the chameleon?

I saw the seller of the chameleon after buying from UG, he asked me what I bought for the chameleon because he wanted to make sure it was going to have a good home. I figured I'm in a reptile store they should know best. The research I did was on chameleonforums and should have went with my instinct.

Hmm.

What sounds like happened to me is the employees couldn't make a decision and wanted the OP to wait untill the boss could talk to him. Since this all happened in 2 days over the weekend, the boss hadn't gotten back to the OP fast enough and this thread was started, once he boss heard he had posted this it ticked him off and he moved on.

No I went up there today and tried getting help but the guys told me to come back later or call. They had a bad attitude about the entire thing and just said read the receipt which irritated me. So I asked them nicely to call the owner and different people gave me different times of when to get him. So I figured posting here would get the owners attention but I guess he doesn't like people posting here about his store.

Oops, typo.
