No Balls From Bill Nelvin (Tropical Herps/Unlimited Morphs???)

Hello All-
It looks like you can add my name to the list of people this guy, Bill Nelvin??, has screwed. He posted an ad on Kingsnake for 0.8 LTC adult ball pythons. First, his asking price was 600 shipped, then he lowered it to 500 shipped. I do not have copies of his original postings from Kingsnake.com, but I do have some of his email replies that he has sent me. I sent him the money via paypal on 1 Jan 05 to "[email protected]". He told me he would ship the snakes on Wednesday 5 Jan 05, but they never arrived. I emailed him and he said that he was out of heat packs. I also asked for a phone number so that I could talk with him, but he had a sore throat and could not talk. Anyway, long story short, I have learned something the hard way. I have contacted paypal, kingsnake, and now fauna classifieds. According to paypal, the email address "[email protected]" is registered to a Joe Locus. I will copy his emails to me below. This is a copy of my first email to him, sent on 31 Dec 04:

Okay,When is the best day for me to ship I ship on Tuesdays,Wenesday and Thursdays.We are in California.
Let me know and send a email with your shipping address to confirm.

Third email I sent him:

Bill, I just wanted to make sure you got my last e-mail. Can you ship on Wed.? Also have the snakes been cooled at all? Sean

His reply:

I have sent him several more emails, which I do not have saved or copies of. Here is the copy of his last email, explaining why my snakes never arrived, sent on 6 Jan 05:

We did not receive heat packs and we will not receive heat packs until Tuesday you will be shipping Tuesday for Wednesday arrival please send me the correct shipping address for that date so I know you will be there on there arrival. Sorry for any inconvenience this may of caused you.

Well, I filed a report with the IFCC today and one with PayPal. PayPal jumped right on it and I had a response within a hour. They told me aka Bill Nelvin gave them a tracking number for UPS and that he claimes he shipped them today!! Up to this point Bill has not responded to my last 5 e-mails. Why would he ship snakes in the dead of winter without making sure I was going to be there?? And from California at that!!!! Well, I just found out he is not in California. Another lie!! He is in Georgia. Well I am his neighbor in South Carolina and if I don't get something in a brown box tommorrow I am going looking for him!!! I would really rather have the money back to tell you the truth.Their is no telling what kind of garbage I am going to get.... Thanks For All The Help Sean M. Kelly

a tracking number?

PayPal requires some type of reply from him within 10 days from your complaint. If he does not reply with a tracking number then they will attempt to take the money back out of his account and give it to you.
So, what has done is start the 10 day clock over by providing a tracking number.

I really hope you get what you paid for but I really doubt he sent anything. Since my original reply to this thread, (page 3), I have gotten several emails from others who have been ripped off by this guy/guys. I have urged all to add their story here. Some have, (thanks). Others have not.
Maybe I need to start a new post with a more complete title since we are dealing with more than just the name "Unlimited Morphs". I think some people are passing over it since they do not see "Bill Nelvin" or "Tropical Herps" in the title. I know Webslave won't edit titles. Maybe if we just keep this at the top for a while, everyone will get the information.

This guy has so many alias' that it's hard to keep up. Luckily, doing a search on any of the alias' we have listed, will pull up this thread.

I actually got a nasty email from Bill Nelvin complaining to me that he has lost his privileges to post on KS.

Here it is.

I didn’t understand why you felt this deal was suspicious at the beginning and I still don’t.

When you asked for a refund it did catch me by surprise since you basically just ordered. 4 things happened at the time you asked for a refund . I don’t care how you take this information but just looking over your emails I feel I need to explain the situation.

1) I personally was not handling all transactions, I was handling transactions by phone

with obviously incompetent employees. Shortly after I told you I had a raspy voice I came down with a slight flu.

2) We were in the process of changing names. We had decided after a little talk that we would switch names on the internet to Unlimited Morphs. This was because the bulk of our sales were ball pythons and rare morphs. We did this because we became aware of another person with the name Tropical Herps. In fact there are many of them. We even received an email from somebody we never sold to.

3) You had said that you did not want the snakes in question. You had even told us to re list them. This was done ASAP. I do not have the emails in front of me so I will not make an exact quote at this time. However if you would like I can dig it up for you.

4) When I was home, I told others to handle the rest of the transaction. This being refunding your money (when there was money in the account), and re listing the add.

You gave me a dead line, at that time I could swear you were completely insane. As the amount of time from FIRST payment was only a matter of several days. In most cases, a down payment is non refundable. Consider your self lucky with this transaction as well. If I was going to cheat you, I would not have refunded you nor would I even attempt to. I answered your emails and sent a refund. Please keep in mind my refund was simply from my own will. I was not concerned with your threats to "call in the authorities and the FBI." Why should have I been? My transactions with you were completely legal. I apologize for this mishap. However if we are to do any more business in the future, maybe it would be best for you to pay in full, and understand no further deposits are refundable. Especially from you specifically at this point! I understand your concern, as any buyer should be worried about the sellers reputation and knowledge. Once again I apologize that this transaction had to end this way.

Well, lets see. First he says he was sooo sick he could not talk to me or any other person, that he as ripped off, on the phone. But here he tells me he was doing all his business over the phone with his employees. And apparently, none of these employees know how to dial a phone either.

Then, he calls me "totally insane" because I asked for a refund after he had re-listed snakes that he had accepted a $600 deposit on. THEN, he lectures ME about what a deposit is for. Yea, I know what's it for. I send you a deposit, you HOLD the snakes until I send you the rest. Instead, he lists them for sale not thinking I would see the ad. And has the nerve to lecture me on ethics.

OH, and his excuse about changing the name from Tropical Herps to Unlimited Morphs being because they made a decision to change to a less common name. I could almost buy that BUT, one little problem with that. He switched back and forth between the two names. One day it was Tropical Herps, then Unlimited Morphs, then Tropical Herps again. If you change your name, you announce it to your customers. Plus, you don't go back to the old name. Nice try Bill Nelvin.

And for the record, I did NOT tell him to re-list the snakes until AFTER I requested a refund for him already re-listing them. He never had the snakes to list, re-list or re-re-list.

And he never explained why he was using the same photos for both the het clowns and the het pieds.

I am furious that this is still happening to good people out there. At least we have the BOI as a tool to help fight it. But if people don't come here and read it, they don't know.

Well, UPS confirms that they have a package in route to my house tracking #1zrx38880196348864 from Doraville GA. Thats a long way from California!!!! UPS states the package is 14 pounds. Help me with the math... 8 Adult Female Ball Pythons that Bill said were all over 1500g. Doesn't that ad up to like 26 pounds???? Thats just for the snakes. Not including heat pacs,box,stuffing,or the BS he put in there. Huh.Maybe he is trying to kill me with a Cobra in the box... I asked for my money back!!!! I am going to make the UPS man watch me open the box as a witness. What should my next move be if the snakes are 700g ea. Should I take pictures of them and send them back with the the UPS man??? Well, we all would like to know what you are going to receive. This shipment may be an attempt to cover his butt for a bit. As for the weight, its about twelve pounds off like you said. My guess is that he went to a pet store and picked up some snakes or is sending you some phone books! Like Troy said, I bet there are many other people who got scammed and haven't said anything yet. This guy could have made a few thousand dollars or more already. Keep us updated on what happens!

I see the package was delivered. What did you get? I hope your ok.

If it were me, I would keep whatever you got from him, (as long as it's safe and legal). It might be the only thing you ever get. Plus, to my knowledge, you are the first to actually get something. Maybe there are more clues in the package.

Just because you accepted deliver, doesn't mean you have given him your approval of the shipment. If they are in fact female balls, and are 1/2 the weight you were suppose to get, then I would start from there. Demand part of your money back or demand a full refund. But get the refund before you ship the snakes back of course. And make him pay shipping.

If he sent you nothing more that rocks, you need to keep the evidence.

We are all on the edge of our seats waiting to see what you got.

Feel like I got Blue Balls!!

Well, this is what happend.. The box came around 9:45 this A.M. I made the UPS guy watch me open it.There were two bags in the box. There was movement in one of the bags. I opened the moving one up carefully and out flew the longest BLACK MAMBA I have ever seen!!!! Just kidding!! In that bag were four alive Ball Pythons. I then moved to the other bag.This bag was a little bigger. It to had four live Ball Pytnons in it. Let me just say I was in shock!! I let my Brown dressed hostage go and started inspecting for ticks and mites. All looked good. I then broke out the scale... This is what I got..1260g. 872g. 780g. 1476g. 866g. 1034g. 1070g. and 1600g. Only one was "over" 1500 grams like the add stated. I then probed them. 7 girls and one boy. They were all supposed to be female. This has been the strangest thing I have ever been a part of. I honestly don't know what to do. I sprayed all of them with a Ivermectin solution and but them in my snake room..... Sean M.Kelly

I am glad to hear you got something. To bad they were not the right size and one was a male. Something tells me this guy is trying to make things look legit right now. Ok we are dealing with a girl. Also if you recieved something from this person and paid paypal, send a complaint. That will put a hold on their account. The thing is they have to prove they sent out the package. Even better it has to be sent to the confirmed address on paypal. So you might be asking "what if they sent it to the confirmed address and i recieved **** snakes?" Well my friends that is where the beauty comes in. For "tropical herps" or "unlimited herps" they have to prove they sent the snakes to the confirmed address that they sent them to. Which they probabbly did. What they probabbly did'nt think about is that paypal wont give them credit for sending the item if its not signed for (package must be worth over $250) which yours is. So you tracked your package and it was shipped to your house but are you really sure that the package was taken inside or was it left outside and not signed for. if it was not signed for they can not prove that you actually got the package. So for all paypal knows your package could have been sitting outside and someone stole it. You can still get your money back through paypal if you did not sign for the package. So Cobra.. are those the snakes I droped off at your house? I drove from Va and droped them off and the package that tropical herps sent you was stolen right? Just let me know if that was right? Well anyways. Here is some info i got for you guys.
