The problem with socks is simple....the weave is too loose... it acts like Velcro when touched by scales...the snake literally has to "rip" his scales away, therefore causing the scales to lift up....it's the same thing as putting baby veiled chameleons on fake carpeting...their tiny nails can get "Velcro'd" where they won't be able to get free...not a good thing! ....Neil
