Unusual behavior in Crested?

My male crested spends all his time on the floor of his cage. He has a large branch for him to climb on, as well as a hide taped to the side of his cage so he can hide above ground. His substrate is wood bark. All he does is lie on the floor all day, sometimes half buried. Is there something wrong?

I am no expert, but some of my cresteds do the same thing. I recently bought the new Crested Gecko book, and it states in there that in the wild, crested geckos will hide under the leaf litter on the ground during the day, and climb on the trees at night. Not sure why they do it though. You may also want to check the temps in your set up. It may be too hot for him as well.

I use paper towel as substrate...about half my geckos hide in the fake plants, the other half hide under the paper towel, sometimes in the nest box

The temperature is about 80 degrees during the day, and probably around 60 at night. I don't use any heating, as he's kept in my green house with all my other herps, and the temperature in there is already 80.

those are extreme temps...their average low isn't even below 64

My gargoyles do the same thing. A few hide in the leaves and branches, a few like to lay on the ground all day.
