i just posted this on herpportal but wanted to share this here too since i love this forum.
well last season i was lucky enough to get a large litter of beautiful boas that included one full body stripe. i was so excited to get a large healthy litter and the stripe just blew me (and everyone who saw it) away. i was literaly jumping around for a minute when i found them. i was once offered $850 for her but could never let it go for any price.
well a little while ago she developed a prolapse which became infected. i went into the situation knowing it would be expensive but literally money was no object for me, whatever it took i would do and pay.
my first visit to the vet cost $300 and the two subsequent visits were around $200 a peice, but i would have spent all i had to save her. i was not happy with the experience as the vet didnt know what was going on even though a search on the net netted more info than i ever got from her. but the fact is that one should accept the responsibility associated with thier pets or not get them at all, as Greg M. recently posted on another thread.
well the snake seemed to be improving but yesterday i found her dead in her enclosure. im pretty bummed but had been preparing myself for it, i even considered putting her down on more than one occasion but held onto hope she would improve.
well here she is, i know its just a snake but i derive alot of enjoyment and satisfaction from my pets and feel that i get way more out of them then i could ever put in. sorry for the long post.
