    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I got rid of the sand, got new lighting, new temp gauge, and made the recipe to hand feed him. Well, sorry to say things are worse. he is now starting to potty, but it is runny, and he regurgitates any food that i feed him through the syringe. he is still very lethargic as well. We have a 3pm vet appointment at a reptile specialist to see what is up! thanks for all the advice and I will keep you informed!

He did not make it

Well, the vet was unsure if it was parasites or impacted. He fought the whole exam and then became really week. They took him into the back to try to get some food and a worming into him and he just went limp. He still had a heart rate but she gave him 24 hours or we could put him down. My son wanted to bring him home but he did not survive the trip back. My son refuses to admit he is dead so he is in his cage and my son checks about every 30 minutes to see if he moved. By bedtime we will have to take him out and burry him.....My son wants to know if we can get another one but I do not know if I have it in me.

I'm sorry for your loss. If you decide to get another one hopefully things will go well for you. Best of luck, Chris.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how hard this is, watching your son go through the emotions of this loss. Poor little man.

If you decide to get another Leo for your son, be sure to check out the care sheets that most of the breeders on here have. They will help you know what is better for the next time. And don't blame yourself at all, a lot of people are lied to by pet stores so they can make a buck.

Awwww, Cathy... I'm so sorry to hear this. I know how broken hearted you and your son must be. Give it some time, grieve for your lost little leo, and somewhere down the road you can get another one.

thank you everyone

Thanks for all your kind words. I just feel so awful. I wish I would have known what I know now. I was lied to and my poor little guy paid the price.I bet money it was that darn "safe" sand. We had just bought him a new 20 gal sweet set up too. My son wants to go this weekend and get another, but I am still so emotional. I think I took it worse than him, although he was devastated. I think it was the last two weeks of checking on him every hour, the feeding from the syringe, I even woke up in the middle of the night to check. I just hope I did the best I could with the knowledge I had. Maybe the little guy forgave us........

i'm sure i won't be the only one to say some prayers for your little guy, good luck and let us know how things go.:(

Cathy, try not to be so hard on yourself. When breeders like me hear these things happening, it frustrates and angers us that retail pet stores give out wrong information.... especially with as many good care sheets available. I am glad you found this Forum that a number of us sponsor, and I personally believe you will get the BEST information on Leopard Geckos here.

I would like to strongly encourage you to go through one of the great breeders here when you are ready for your next gecko, and not to do business with the place you got your son's gecko. Our geckos are NOT inventory items like retail stores, and you will get ongoing support as well as a community of Leopard Gecko keepers that have the health and well-being of our Leos first and foremost in mind.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone. I am trying not to feel to responsible but I can't help it. I always blame myself. And believe me I will get one from a private breeder or specialist if we decide to get another. not someone who throws it in a butter container and sends it home. I wish he would have survived for the x-rays so i would have know for sure if sand was a factor. She did feel a mass but was unsure if it was impacted, or a tumor, or hardening of internal organs. Any of those would be from giving me poor information or poor breeding. i am still so sad........
