In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ok, I shipped out Fred today. :(

The only thing is UPS says that they can't give me by 10am guarantee due to the address being rural and can only go by end of day delivery. aaarrrrgggg Then they charge me extra because it is rural. double aaaarrrrgggggggg I get charged extra for something that delays my shipping. Granted it was only a $2.25 charge, I'd even be happy if they charged me $10 extra to go ahead and guarantee a 10am delivery.

How often do you guys get a rural address that they won't guarantee by 10am?

I haven't made to many shipments liek maybe big breeders but of the 3-4 dozen shipments I'd say I've maybe maybe 3 where not guareenteed, sadly one was the only time I've had a leo die before it arrived and I think it was due to the temp inside the fed ex truck.

UPS and FedEx both do that. I live in a somewhat rural area and both will only guarantee 12:30 to my house. Because of the regular driving routes of my local drivers, I receive UPS geckos usually around 9:30. FedEx usually gets here right at 12:30, sometimes a bit early, but never before 11:00. So, just because it's not guaranteed, doesn't mean it won't get there by 10.

I sent out a gecko a few weeks ago that was only guaranteed "end of day" as well. She arrived at about 2:00, safe and sound! I don't know how common it is overall, but since I live in a pseudo-rural area and one of the two geckos that I've shipped went to a rural area it seems common to me!

As an aside, I have bugs shipped by DHL 2-day. They have arrived in one day (usually before noon) every time. Although they did deliver to my neighbors this time..... I would, of course, never chance it with a gecko - but I do enjoy the savings for shipping bugs.

DHL does the same for me :hehe:

UPS or any carrier, does not guarantee 1030 delivery to my residence, they only guarantee end of day. I have no idea why, its not like I live in the middle of no where. It is aggravating. So I usually have the package sent to my girlfriends, they guarantee it by 1030 at her residence which is exactly 1.9 miles away. Go figure.

I'm sure Fred will make it fine. :)

It's odd, I've never had any delivery problems with UPS to my area before. Hopefully Fred won't be too late. UPS usually shows up here between 10:30 and 11 in the morning. I've even had 2 day packages show up the next day. FedEx has also been good to me. They say that the package will be delivered by 4:30pm, but they've never showed up later than 2:30 (even in the middle of a blizzard the truck showed up before 2:30!).

The only delivery problems I've had to my semi-rural area were from DHL (or DH-Hell as I call it). I swear, the DHL drivers that come to this area couldn't find their rears with two hands, a map and a compass! :hot:

Kristal,

I'm sure he'll make it to you fine, I was just all set for him to be there at 10am, and not sit all day waiting, to make sure they didn't loose him or anthing else. :( There end of the day is 8pm, I hope he's not stuck in that dark box that long.

I know what you mean about waiting. I always worry excessively about critters when they're shipped. I try not to think about all the things that can go wrong (easier said than done!) and try to keep myself busy until I hear the truck pull up.

I hope I won't have to wait until 8pm!! :willy_nil

There have been several times that a shipment wasn't going to be delivered early enough for me to feel comfortable, so I did a "HOLD FOR PICK UP" and had the receiver pick up the box at the local UPS hub first thing in the morning. That way the shipment wasn't riding around in the truck for several hours.

not as bad as me, whenever I've had anything shipped, I've got the psychotic habit of refreshing the DHL, UPS, Fed Ex tracking screen to see if they updated it yet LOL

I do that too!!! Along with running to the window every time I hear something that could possibly be the delivery truck driving up the street.

I don't think any delivery person has ever actually knocked on my door. . .When I see the truck I'm out the door and dashing down the walk to get my package. It's rare that they even make it out of the truck before I'm there. :crazy03:

I'll have lots of pics of Fred when he gets here. :D

I do that too, but only when I'm waiting for Leos or feeders. Other than that they drop it in front of my door and don't even knock or ring the door bell.

Here's an older picture of Fred, when he was about 20grams, he's now 40.

Fred is a sweetie! :) Trying to upload pics to Photobucket now, but it's going slow (Probably be faster if I wasn't browsing the boards at the same time). Fred is currently hiding in his humid hide with his tail hanging out. :) So cute. I'll be giving him lots of fattened crickets tonight. :)

I tried to leave trader rating, but I get a message saying I don't have sufficient privileges to leave a rating. :( Gotta see what I have in PayPal so I can contribute and leave a rating. :)

Whatever you do, when ordering UPS Next Day Air labels, don't get the "Early AM" labels by mistake like I did. We had nine shipments go out that week and it's $28.50 each extra to get there at like 7:30 - 8:00 AM. Then the customers were complaining that it was too early. Glad to see that Fred made OK.

LOL, Dan! I would never, ever complain if geckos from you arrived at my house - even if it was the middle of the night! ;)
