    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

UPS, FedEx, Airborne Express, USPS - bad guys.

I got my approval letter today. ALl I have to do now is call my local sales rep. to get the 'legal paperword" (As they call it) set up and finalized.
I will post pics of the paperwork that came with it.....I asked them to send my box back as it was an option on the form I filled out.

I really do not think you NEED to talk to a sales rep. What you will have to do is go to the link below.

go down to the bottom with the heading "Packaging Testing or Evaluation". Click on that link and it will bring up a form. You have to print it out and send it to the address at the bottom of that same page.

I got my acct. last Monday, I didn't get around to sending the "test package" out until Friday and I go the results and box back today. So it took less than a week once I shipped off the box.

The reasonI say you would not need to talk to a sales rep. is because when I talked to mine, all they did is give me the directions I just gave you all here. Nobody at the testing lab knew the box was coming, I just sent it on it's way.

Give it a try folks, it reeally is easier than I thought it would be!

I already have a FedEx account. So are you saying I would just print out this paperwork, and then send in my test package? At what point do I end up telling them that I plan to ship snakes and ask them for the waiver - after the test is complete? If so, who do I call?

On the form it will say what you are shipping (or want to ship). I also included a letter stating who I am, what I am doing etc.
In the packet I got back AFTER they inspected it, it then states to call my rep. to get the 'legal paperwork', states they will not be accountable for loss/damaged stuff, etc.
THey will tell you what to do next after they approve the box.
 
Well, it is rather difficult to take a pic of the packet that I was sent as the pages are standard size and cannot fit into the pic.....can't zoom in close enough to see what matters and be able to read it.

Below is what the paper looks like that you will need to print out of the already provided link and mail in with your sample package.

Thanks webslave and EVERYBODY who gave directions.

Now someone stated they wanted the private shipping companies to openly accept reptiles deliveries without needing exception letters and stuff.

I forgot who it was.....BUT

I feel a little differently.
There is always gonna be some yahoo who will attract attention and blow things for the rest of us.
I for one agree with sending them a test package.
Sending the test package shows them the responsibility we take in shipping these animals.
And quite frankly I don't have a problem with allowing only "responsible / knowledgeable" shippers shipping reptiles.
It keeps EVERYBODY safer.
I also don't have a problem showing someone and giving someone directions on how to ship.

Okay I am not sure if I conveyed my thoughts correctly but I am sure someone understood whatever it is I said and can clarify it with better use of the english language.
 
I agree 100%.

The quick and easy way (behind backs etc.) is not always the right way.
I would MUCH rather go through what I am here and know that they will ship it when they inspect it vs. having some stupid hangup and an animal die.

But I think this is an IMPORTANT step we have just taken:

OK, I just got my boxes back with the approval forms enclosed. I sent two different sized boxes, since both need to be approved separately. Here's what the returned approval forms look like:

Please note where the product description on page one says "LIVE HARMLESS SNAKES", as well as the Inner Description recognizes the contents of the deli cup and bag that were enclosed as examples of how the snakes will be contained within the box itself.

Now I have to fax this off to my sales rep to be forwarded to their legal department.

I would say this pretty much shows that FedEx is open to provide us a shipping avenue for live harmless snakes. :dancer01:

I do however have a suggestion...If at all possible do you think you could put the how to of this on a sticky post so people can go to it and see what they need to do to get set up legally.. I know I would have had a hard time reading through this thread and finding the info if I didn't happen to stumble across it at the right time.

Also some people are possibly to be confused on this. Do we need to send in exactly what we use to ship? in seperate boxes if we use different set ups? such as snake bags, or deli cups, or a combination of them?

Apparently that is what Rich did. I, on the other hand, did not think of that. I just sent in a box that was styro lined, newspaper for cushioning and a snake bag tied in a knot. The only thing that would ever change in my packaging would be the deli cups vs. the snake bag.
I hope that this does not create a problem with them (FedEx), but what can I do now?

I think your idea of posting a sticky is a good one. I am sure Rich will read this and would agree to do so.

Rich, if you would like, I could email you with the propper steps and phone numbers to use for people to make this happen themselves. I know you have many other things going on. Just let me know if you would like me to do this.
 
I was told to ship the test packages to the test dept. 2 day delivery w/ the recipient paying for dellivery.
 
Damn, I should have asked. :(

I was so jazzed at having this finally going places after 6 months of phone calls and emails I just did a label and shipped it out. LOL
 
Just to make a few things clear.

The shipping is paid for my FedEx, you just have to ask them and they will give you the acct. number to put on the shipping label for charging them.
It goes to their "Package Design and Development" department in Memphis, Tennessee.

Yes, you send it 2 day express or whatever they call it.
 
Brian, I am intending on making up a step by step for getting an account and shipping with FedEx, but I wanted to wait until all the "t"s are crossed and the "i"s are dotted. Eventually all of these threads having to do with shipping will likely be moved over into the SHIPPING forum anyway when this is all wrapped up.

The amazing thing about this huge step for all of us in the reptile hobby is that it wasn’t done sooner. There were so many of us small hobbyists out there stressing each time we made a shipment, while many larger professional breeders had approved accounts, because of their volume. I feel that maybe some of the larger breeders feared the extra competition that this might mean, but I really believe that they will benefit as much as anybody from this. Shipping hassles and stress, is what keeps a lot of smaller hobbyists from growing in the hobby. When they want to grow, they will turn to the large breeders for their breeding stock. Thanks a bunch to all of you who took the first steps in getting the ball rolling on this.

Dont forget that we are still running the petition. What this could mean is that other companies BESIDES FedEx could also be encouraged to allow shipping of snakes.

You may ask "If FedEx allows it why are we continuing the petition?"

Well, there is a thing in this country called competition, and some of these other companies, after seeing the petition, may decide that they too will offer shipping of harmless snakes. This could mean a choice in service to us, and a maybe even a choice in price. Just a thought.

I commend all of you who have stepped forward as guinea pigs to see if FedEx would allow you to ship snakes, and I am looking forward to hearing about it when you recieve your "contract".

I have gotten some emails from people who seem irate about us all taking this bull by the horns, claiming we should leave this for the "professionals" at PIJAC.

Well, I have contacted PIJAC about this issue. I have also contacted them about my membership, since I never have received one word about it nor received any correspondence from them concerning any sort of membership info.

To date, I have not received ONE WORD from PIJAC.

I am not impressed.

Perhaps some people are willing to sit on their hands and w-a-i-t for someone else to do this for them, but I am not.
