    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. Just wanting to give everyone a heads up that "Sal" from Upstate Exotics is at it again. This was his old company in NY until he owed tooooooo many people money and is now a wanted man. WELL.... he is now Boca Retpiles and is already up to no good.
PLease beware.... there are many stories and not enough time for this man. Just watch out for him!

We sold 5 perfectly healthy snakes to a buddy of his almost 2 months ago that called us last night saying that they died. He said that they had "IBD" well we haven't had any probs with any of our animals at all, but my husband being the genuine business man he is said he would send him 5 more (almost 2 months later) ( he didn't want "a bad rep or mad people") well this wasn't good enough for Rick Powers so he told my husband he wanted 10 (where he got this number from we have no idea) well then he slipped and said he had just bought some "stuff" from Sal and another guy a couple of weeks prior. Well that was the key- the snakes we sent him weren't bad he was buying crap from other people. Well then his wife gets on the phone- calls me every name in the book and then says that her, Rick and Sal will be down to the KC Reptile show this weekend to "kick the crap out of us at our show" so to watch out. It was quite interesting as the story goes on that well her dad is a sherrif and her aunt is a judge etc.... so to "get ready" LOL! Now that was a good laugh!!!
So basically he put these people up to this for covering up for his sick animals....
WATCH OUT!!!!

you need to do two thing either sign ur name in every BOI post or go into the control panel located in the top of the screen 2nd from the left i think and edit ur user profile you will find a "signature section in there where yopu can put ur name and it will post it on all ur posts , if not u may havethis thread deleted..

I feel bad for all the poor amazon tree boas he is probably killing as we speak. I didn't previously know Boca and Upstate were the same people. I almost inquired about some of those amazons, I'm now very happy I did not. Thanks for posting that info.

You sold snakes to someone else, and your only communication has been with someone else. Why is Upstate / Sal / Boca in the thread at all?

Just because Sal is an easy target here doesn't mean details aren't necessary. You should post the details of your transaction with Rick Powers.

The details are in there- pretty much the complete story is all there. He sold him sick animals after we did and now the guy is blaming us for his stuff dying almost 2 months later. Sal along with Rick and his wife called us on 3 way...... threatning to kick our a** he is trying to get the animals back that were killed by Sals "stuff" that he bought from him.....
Do you see the connection????

I didn't explain this very well..... Sal sold him sick animals a month and a half after we sold him healthy ones.... and now the guy is blaming us for the dead snakes almost 2 weeks later.

Did anyone get proof that the animals died of IBD? Vet report? That is a serious accusation for any of the parties to make (whether they are accusing golizards or Sal). I would certainly look into this before any more talk of IBD goes on.

Now in that statement i see Sal sold him animals 1 1/2 months later then you did and he is blaming you 2 weeks later for the snakes death ? whos snakes died the ones you sent him or the ones Sal sent him?

If the ones you sent him died and they had been with him for aprroximately 2 months until death then although not impossible but me personally i have never seen healthy snakes go from doing well to dying in a two week time span. Even if the animals Sal sold him were infected with something i still find it hard to beleive that your healthy animals would up and go from good health to dead in two weeks time this would have to mean a few things in perspective.

  1. Sals snakes would have had to have been on deaths door step with a free ride card
  2. Sals snakes would also be dead ( more then likely before the ones you sent him
  3. again healthy boas just dont up n die in two weeks

    This would also mean that the person you sold them to would have had to have housed them all together , used unsanitary handling conditions , and been blind to see that the snakes sal sent were dying before his eyes to have caused a illness to transfer to the animals you sold him .


    Now belive me when i tell you this and my record reflects it also lol i am by NO MEANS a Sal supporter miles from it ( hundereds of them ) but i would have to think that both yours , Sals snakes and many more would have died by now depending on the extent of co habitation of them in cages etc .

    If only the snakes you sent him died and Sals are still alive then i would tend to think that maybe just maybe two things transpired from the time he recieved your snakes . he either had the worst husbandry known to mankind to kill healthy boas in 2 months time or there may have been a underlying problem with them . None the less in two months a heatlh warranty would be long gone but if the snakes you sent all died then there is a thin blackline as to why without knowing the entire scoop on the keepers end .
    these are just things i thought of nothing more nothing less
 
You Got Taken But Not by Sal

I can understand that your husband may have been concerned about getting a bad rap for the five dead animals but after the period of time involved (2 months?) I wouldn't have covered that because I've seen to many husbandry issues kill animals off in that time frame. The IBD issue was just a ploy because nobody wants that label hung on their animals so they knew that would make you act. Also, when a customer arbitrarily changes the figure from 5 to 10 for no apparent reason it's clear they were just out to take advantage of you. Sal or no Sal you shouldn't have covered those animals after that period of time in my opinion but of course that's your call.
 
You should also require hard evidence of the original five animals death before you do anything. It seems odd that if IBD were actually involved, the buyer would want any more animals from you at all. I agree with Greg that after 2 months you are most certainly not obligated to do anything on a warranty basis.

I also find myself in the uncomfortable position of saying that you have made some major jumps in both logic and supposition in stating that the reason for this situation is to cover for sick animals sent by Sal. I am not a supporter of this guy at all...the opposite in fact...but you are basing that statement on nothing at all. I find it far more plausible that the original buyer is simply scamming for free animals
 
I'm in agreement with what was said. Unless TOS state otherwise, you are way beyond an "acceptable" gurantee period.
Now as far as the health issue. You sent 5 animals and all died of IBD? What are the odds? What was the age of the animals? Did you ask for a vet report or for pictures of the dead animals?

Why doesn't this guy (Sal) just pack up,, and start selling baseball cards, Movie memorabilia,,( lots of thieves in that),, or something like that,,,,

BOTTOM LINE IS I BOUGHT SIX SICK SNAKES FROM GO LIZARD,AND ALL SIX DIED.ALSO LOST SOME VALUBALE SNAKES FROM THE REST OF MY COLLECTION.THEY GOT $350.00 OF MY MONEY AND I GOT SKREWED.
ANYONE ELSE THAT BUYS FROM THEM,GET THE VASELINE READY.

The question about the age of the snakes is important because IBD is not characteristic of young snakes. That's why diagnosis by a DVM is in this case important. If finding a young snake with IBD is difficult and according to the University of FL anecdotal, what are the odds of finding 5 out of the same shipment?

..."Ages Affected: Has been identified primarily in adult snakes. However, all age groups should be considered susceptible. There are anecdotal reports of infection in neonates"....

I'm not saying the snakes did not arrive sick. It could very well be. But to make a diagnosis of IBD requires histopathology, it's not enough with just looking at signs and symptoms.

Hypothetical: IF the boas were sick, it still is not the seller's responsibility to see that the buyer has appropriate quarantine procedures.

The two timelines don't add up, but since the buyer says he won't be back, I don't think that we'll ever solve this one. Without the desire to answer questions, we'll just have to get all of our information from the above message. To my way of thinking, without a lot of clarification, I'd have to side with the seller over the buyer.

Seems odd to me that someone with an Albino boa who doesn't know about quarantine procedures (aren't albino boas worth a bit of change?) is someone who needs to become educated.

Also, the snake that died within a couple of days of arriving from Sal, seems a bit extreme that two snakes in adjacent cages would result in death so soon after shipping, especially if the animal was in the best of health.

A lot of the above are opinions and I have to admit that my knowledge of Boas is minimal, so I could be way off base on a few of my conjectures above.
