What I am getting at is this...

1. Names are very similar
2. Both hosted by the same hosting company.
3. Southernstatesexotics.com registered on 05/29/03 right in the middle of all this heat put on Upstateexoctics.
4. Same exact shipping terms, word for word.
5. Very similar websites

Conclusion...

Upstateexoctics formed a new company to help hurting sales and hide their bad rep on the BOI. Or someone balantly ripped them off and used the exact same hosting company to do it, but I would highly doubt that. Not very clever IMHO. But of course, it is just my opinion.

This is a good possibility because sales would be down a lot after their deals have been made public on the BOI.

With the VERY bad rep they have, it would be one way to get around it.

These are two different companies with different telephone numbers and area codes. Southernstatesexotics number is registered to S. THEDFORD in MS. while Upstate Exotics is in NY. In my opinion the company that hosted their sites liked the terms and conditions and used the same for both.

Hosting companys do not determine what you put on your website, they only provide the space for it. Also, its not hard to set up an answering service in one State and have those calls forwarded to another State.

Well, after taking a look at the portfolio, I must admit I may have jumped the gun. But it does show they have a lack of creativity and charge $500.00 for a cookie cutter website design. Their lack of creativity lead to the confusion.

Upstate doesn't care what anyone on FC thinks. OK then. Stop responding that you don't care. If, however, you want to verify that Tony has already received a refund (I think it's Tony you were speaking about?), then just scan the proof and post it here.

Scott (and the others), you are never, ever, ever, EVER going to buy from Upstate. OK then. You know, I know it, Upstate knows it. We all get it.

Upstate alternately A) doesn't care and B) finds this funny. Upstate should go make money with the herps or the web designing or whatever, and the BOI should move on.

UNLESS....anyone would like to address the matter of Tony's refund, which is still in dispute and still quite relevant.

It is clear from this message that there is no affiltiation whatsoever between the Tampa Snake Pit, Upstate Exotics, and Southern States Exotics. The only similarity in their TOS is due to the fact that Neil Gubitz was in charge of writing the original terms, which were in turn used by the other two. Hope this helps clarify things up.

They frequent the BOI, but seem to hide when this question pops up. I guess they are too scared to answer it or too ignorant?

how are you? The answer to your question is a definite no! Absolutely no refund to date. The Better Business Bureau sent me a letter dated 05/30/03,

We regret to inform you that the company has not responded to your complaint.
I received a letter from The Division of Consumer Services which stated they have referred my complaint to The, NY State Consumer Protection Board. I also have sent copies of all emails between myself and Upstate Exotics to Debit Card Operations.

The great thing about this site is it allows the truth to come out and certain dishonest companies are revealed for what they really are. Again in this post all facts have been shown. Numerous sites are linked to this thread so many more people will definitely be more aware of this companies business practices and there lack of concern for the animals or customers. That $180.00 will turn into, who knows the amount of potential lost sales???????? But like they've stated so very clearly they find it humorous. The fact that this information came forth I do believe it has helped many people not be potential victims. Thanks so much for your time and have a great day.

Screwed by Upstate Exotics!!!!!!!!!

I WISH I had known that this site was here before I bid on an auction on Reptibid placed by Sal. He promised me two baby yellow ratsnakes. I paid ontime and expected to get what I paid for. He NEVER even SUGGESTED that he was substituting something else. I was sure shocked when I opened the box and found a 34 inch adult yellow rat.

I still have all his emails to prove what he told me, and if you want to see them, I'll forward them to you. He waited until I posted feedback for him, then posted negative feedback for me. I have NEVER had negative feedback on ANY auction site before. I am scrupulous about my record.

He even had the nerve to suggest that I had LOST a snake in the scant newspaper packing or that I had received two and was just trying to get a third one. I've never owned a snake before, so I'm not really ready for an adult anything! Why would I want THREE? And if I'd lost one out of the paper, my cats would certainly have found it, but the minute I got this adult snake out of the packing, I IMMEDIATELY removed every scrap of newpaper and the styro. I even tore open the little cloth bag in the box to make sure there wasn't a snake hiding in there somehow.

I guess I'm now a member of the "Screwed by Upstate Exotics" club, huh?

As another note, to protect yourself whenever you order/buy any type of animal, it's good to try and take pics of the entire box opening process...esp. if you have a time/date stamp on your camera.
