    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ok who here has ever been bit by a uromastyx? Well mine was asleep yesterday, and I hadnt been around much to make sure he moved around a lot and I decided to get him out and see if he was ok. Well it turns out he was asleep and he gets very angry when he wakes up. When I picked him up he started doing this thing were he like whiggle his body kinda like how a snake crawls, have you guys ever seen this? Well I saw some "snault" on his nostrils so I thought I would help him and get it of well when I touched his nostril he opened his mouth... he had never done this before. Well I figured I would give him a couple of pieces of moistened turtle food. BIG MISTAKE. When I did he bit my finger, I had never been bit this hard by a lizard, my leopard gecko doesnt bite this hard. Luckily he didnt bite down as long as my leo and let go about a second or two after biting. He managed to et his mouth across most of my index finger, and had just started to breah the skin when he let go. Man did that hurt.

Hey there, Nothing unusal!! My yearlings tend to act like that, The snake like movement you were describing or "belly dancing" as I call it is what seems to be them reving up there tail muscles in prepration to hit you with it. I have been hissed at alot and nipped a few times, its no big deal they are just grumpy, the way to break them of that is to handle them CONSTANTLY, do not act as though you are afraid it will go away trust me.
Good luck!
Melissa

OK, I had sen him do the belly dance before, I had just never seen him open his mouth trying to bite before. Of course I dont make a habit of picking him up while he is asleep.

I just saw my new little Ornate do the "belly dance", it was so cool but I had no idea what it was up to. Cool new thing to learn here. I have never been bit by a Uro, but my tokays hurt.

I have been bitten by everything, and I will say that my malis have the strongest bite of all. Yes, it really hurts. I like to hand feed my Uros to kinda bond with them. Just make sure that the food isn't so tiny that your fingers are right there!! The belly dance is pretty cool. My female Yellow Saharan is notorious for that.
