Yes, I have sold to Jasen many times in the past. In nearly all cases, it was a situation where he would place an order on Wednesday night, wanting me to ship on Thursday so the order could be shipped overseas over the weekend. People from out of the country contacted Jasen SPECIFICALLY asking for animals from me. He paid up front, and they got their animals. Everyone was happy.

Not sure why you got a bug up your butt and want to drag me into this, but if you have a problem with whom I have done business with, Justin, just because you may have personal issues with them, well tough noogies.... I never saw the need to consult with you concerning who I do business with.

And for the record, the remainder of my animals were not sold to Jasen. Just so you don't lose any sleep over it..

Thanks Rich ,and thanks Justin,because you did qualify my reading between the lines about your post and reasons behind it .Obviously something happened between you two(You and Jasen),but seems like you never got beyond it .I can relate ,but finding happiness over someone elses misfortune ,whatever the circumstances ,just doesn't look right .It's pretty apparent he was keeping things in some pretty horrid conditions ,and it's probably better for some animals this happened .JMHO

why on earth do you want to sell to a company who has a track record of being involved in 2 international plagues and caused an entire industry to be shut down forcing hundred out of work.including people who are trying to save Prairie Dogs from Extinction ...ask Linda Watkins what this did to conservation efforts, and I can name a few more species that suffered becasue of this.. spotted turtle fiasco of 1998-2000 causing South Carolina to pass laws because of over collecting and the insuing price wars between outfits like Jason , Strictly etc..
Fact is the buck comes 1st these days...not the welfare of the animals and now we are all facing repurcutions due to not thinking about who we sell to and buy from..

What surprises me is that in any of the photos that I can find regarding the case in articles, the animals appear to be in good condition and being removed in proper containers. I don't see any pictures of what they are claiming to be horrendous conditions that the animals were living in and warranted their intervention.

Maybe Jasen is just a target of the Texas Wildlife Commission and other authorities.

Whoa....slow down. What was established as far as I can read about it, was that Jasen shipped prairie dogs to a shop which also had gambian rats that were carrying monkey pox. Those rats infected the prairie dogs, which customers purchased, and thus began the cycle of people becoming infected with the disease.

How is he responsible for an animal in a pet shop that is carrying monkey pox and infecting the prairie dogs that he sold them?

And from what I know, they never released the name of the dealer who sold those stores those infected rats.

I am surprised that HSUS has not shown up and given everyone a tee shirt to wear. They like to show up at events like this, dress everyone up in HSUS tee shirts and then when the cameras go away, so do they, leaving the local animal groups holding the bills while HSUS sits on millions of dollars. If it is as bad as they say, it is hard to believe they have not filed charges, and have not shut them down for more than a day. They will also seize the records of who has purchased and sold them animals for later use. Animal owners are being persecuted in this country.

Yes, there was a period of time when it was just more convenient to have Jasen pay me after I had shipped, but he still came through in a reasonable amount of time. I had been doing enough business with Jasen for a number of years that I felt I could trust him to pay me. When the economy tanked and everyone was floundering, I then withdrew that option, figuring I didn't want to get caught when the dominoes started crashing down. So many "middle men" in this business are living off of the "floating" aspect of their cash flow that any restriction in the flow could easily put them under. Fortunately I was able to leave the business without getting burned, so I am satisfied with the way I ran my business.

But, whatever.... Seems to me you are all eaten up with personal issues concerning Jasen Shaw, fella. If you intend to find fault with everyone who has done business with Jasen, you have a lot of work ahead of you to compile that list. So what's the point? In my opinion, Justin, you are coming across here with your pointless ravings as appearing to be slightly unhinged......

but I would think the dead animals and everything are being left as is for evidence/photos etc..and may not be shown to the public until after the case, If the cages are so packed there probably finding stuff as there removing the live animals. I would think that with this many people and whats at hand at US Global that the animals are being cleaned up and packed up into proper containers on site and being removed ..I am sure there are health concerns to deal with as well..

We need to be very critical and not let this happen.
If we want a ban on reptiles and exotics this is how you go about doing it. My business doesn't need any stupid city ordinances popping up making what I do illegal..do you? But looks like because of whats taking place that may happen here...this sucks on many levels.

Hi. I buy from a number of dealers when they have animals that I'm in need of or am interested in working with. Global has been one of these. Buying from any wholesaler is risky, and as Kelli pointed out, most of them are below par in care and husbandry conditions. You call them up, ask as many questions as you can, which usually irritates them, and place your order. It's kind of like gambling. I have had shipments come in that were perfect from Global, and I've had shipments that were not. I stopped buying hegdehogs from them long ago, when I got a shipment of them in missing feet, ears, holes in the body, and all of them had mites and infected feet from standing in their own feces I would imagine. Of course we never bought hedgehogs from them ever again. It cost us hundreds and hundreds of dollars in vet bills to treat and save what hogs we could, and then we gave them away to loving homes. I have no doubt that the report on the news about them is true. Very sad. It could have been such a great enterprise if proper animal husbandry was carried out. Frankly, all those dead animals piss me off. Moral of the story for me, always try to buy from private breeders or small wholesale companies. The really big ones don't seem to give a damn. Not all of them, but too many for my tastes.

I was throwing away dead animals by the can fulls...because there was just no way one person could do it all, I worked 6 days a week 12-16 hours per day at for like 400.00... shit like that will give you nightmares... so like your comment about loosing sleep ..you have no ideal bro.. let just see what comes out in the end ..in the news.. and then ask yourself ..would you be eaten up a bit for having to going through that as stupid kid...don't see anyone else risking lawsuits etc.. over it.. I have some cease and desist letters here from Jasen..do you...already been in a lawsuit against him some crap he pulled have you been..oh yeah your shutting down the BOI because your scared of future lawsuits...geeze.

ARLINGTON -- A veterinary technician working undercover for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals at U.S. Global Exotics in north Arlington documented the mistreatment and deaths of thousands of animals, many which he said were kept in cramped containers without food and water for more than a week.

The PETA insider, interviewed by Arlington animal welfare officials last week, detailed numerous examples of cruelty he observed during the past seven months at the Internet-based exotic animal wholesaler, located in the 1000 block of Oakmead Drive.

On Tuesday, Arlington Animal Services, along with the Humane Society of North Texas and the SPCA, raided the business and seized more than 20,000 animals, ranging from tiny frogs and turtles to sloths and kinkajous. Workers, who said the smell of death inside the one-story tan building was overwhelming, also removed hundreds of carcasses.

Arlington Animal Services interviewed the confidential informant Dec. 9 after being asked by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department to investigate whether animals at the location were being treated cruelly, according to an affidavit released by the city Wednesday.

Earlier that day, the federal agency had seized documents and computers from the business related to its investigation into whether animals bought and sold by the business were falsely identified or labeled in violation of federal code, according to the city document.

Animal officials have called Tuesday’s raid the largest of its kind.

Among the animals that were still alive were lizards, a large variety of snakes, spiders and crabs, as well as sugar gliders, sloths, hedgehogs and prairie dogs, officials said. The animals, some quite valuable, have been taken to undisclosed locations for care.

Federal investigation

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department is investigating whether U.S. Global Exotics violated Title 16 USC 3372 (d) of the Lacey Act, which makes it unlawful for any person to make or submit any false record, account, or label for, or any false identification of, any fish, wildlife, or plant which has been, or is intended to be— (1) imported, exported, transported, sold, purchased, or received from any foreign country; or (2) transported in interstate or foreign commerce.

I think you are a jealous cry baby. Rich made something out of himself and you live in a trailer with your mom. As far as corn snakes goes, I don't think he crashed the market. I see baby corns 3 for $10.00 at shows and b grade corns for $1.00. Not just normals either.

Seriously, Justin, are you on any sort of medications? If so, I think you need to consult with your doctor about upping the dosages a bit. Apparent delusions of grandeur, persecution, paranoia, etc, are all pretty clear signs of severe psychological problems that you really should address. We're praying for you, buddy....
