In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info US GLOBAL EXOTICS SPCA RAID

The "if" is exactly what I stated. IF they ARE GUILTY of the poor treatment they have been accused of, they ARE the problem. I didn't say "if a JP or city judge in Arlington TX finds them guilty", I said IF THEY ARE GUILTY. I said what I meant.

I must have misunderstood the purpose of the judge in the case. My apologies.

I couldn't get the links to work either so still no video or pics yet and I read the article and would love for anyone that has kept mice together for any amount of time to say they haven't had them be cannibalistic.

Has it ever crossed your mind the PETA employee purposely neglected animals to further their agenda and is it only your assumption he wasn't paying his employees or is that a fact?

Did Jason say he was broke and has no savings? Where are you coming up with that he has no attorney on retainer?

If you or anyone doesn't want to donate that is fine but to ask to post his financial records is his business, not yours or anyone's business.

You don't even know ALL the facts, you base your assumptions on a newspaper article selling news, you would be a good candidate to work on behalf of PETA and all the other activiist trying to ban pets, good going Chuck! :ack2:

I'm sorry if this may offend you but I don't respond to convicted smugglers.

Wouldn't a person or business first have to be CITED and have time to clean up there act before any further enforcement? Is there any records that indicate Global Exotics been CITED before? I may be off base here I'm just wondering....

Ooh I'm sorry, that's right, you're not the smuggler I ran into on fauna recently.

You were convicted of....cruelty to animals by abandoning them in your store with no food or water...I believe.

Oh my gosh, I didn't even realize, look how much you have in common with Mr. Shaw. :(

Obviously they showed the worst cases, but what I remember of the broadcast they showed was;

Two tubs of hamsters on shavings, one pretty crowded with live hamsters, the other full (wall to wall) of dead hamsters that had drowned when a water supply system failed and flooded the cage.

A cut down plastic bottle (something like a bleach container) containing about 50% dead and 50% live green (I'd say tree) frogs.

Multiple showings of the same video of two separate very skinny snakes live but convulsing. One was a Boa, the other may have been a Python, footage was fast and not very clear. However they both were undeniable extremely thin and definitely convulsing badly.

Box (wooden or cardboard crate) with dead lizards (possibly iguanas, my memory fades...)

Overall impression was definitely of a dirty, poorly kept facility.

My understanding is that if they find the animals are in imminent danger, they can be taken immediately. I used to help out at a "rodent factory" in Arlington, and the health department warned us several times that if they ever found animals in "imminent danger", they would shut the place down and confiscate all the livestock. We worked continuously to keep that place clean and up to standard.

I think you should retract your assumptions that I mentioned and the FACT I was not convicted of cruelty to animals and never abandoned them in my store. Again you make assumptions.

You need to lay off the liqueur because you are full of to many assumptions that will sooner or later bite you in the... :yesnod:

A judge finding you guilty doesn't make you guilty. Lots of people are found guilty in court when they are in fact innocent. Again, I repeat......IF THEY ARE GUILTY OF THE MISTREATMENT they are accused of, THEY ARE THE PROBLEM. They become the face of the exotic pet industry to the general public, and even more importantly, to the government. Or at least, they provide the face that PETA and HSUS want the public to see. When you are involved in anything that is under attack, you cannot afford to provide ammunition to the enemy. :NoNo:

You sir, are correct. That's why we have an appeals court.

Question? Does TX have rules as to the care of animals and a enforcement officer that does random checks like quarterly to see that all is going as its supposed to? Here In GA we do. The Dept of Ag regulates pet shops and does inspections to be sure that codes are followed. I am wondering if TX has regulations for petshops and import places as well as licenses that must be applied for before opening either.

FACTS...please pay attention to Helenthereef's post.:shrug01: Personally, I was turned off by the fact that the post was attempting to emotionally blackmail the reader.

Global has the right to solict funds, and individuals have the right to refuse without being tarred and feathered as someone on the side of PETA.

IMO, neither the solictor nor the refuser has committed any great crime by our individual decisions that I can see.

Yes, I'm pretty sure they do. However, the U.S.D.A has no jurisdiction over reptiles. The mammals? Of course they do.

What I was attempting to do was convey the impression that the broadcast gave, as many people on this thread had not seen it. As you can see, I started by saying "Obviously they showed the worst cases". Not sure how to be more impartial than reporting the evidence.....

They do here in GA... THat is why I asked. If that were the case then how did things get so wrong so fast because if they were reguarly being checked then this wouldn't have happened. I also ask because if there were reguarlar inspections this could cut down on these problems as well as give insight on what was going wrong and improvements that could be made. I was at a reptile show and seen a bunch of iguanas being grabbed up by the handfuls and shoved into another pillow case. This concerned me because it was the first time I had seen something like that. But I wouldn't say that is the case for all reptile shows, owners or wholesalers. Lapse of judgement, not the best idea, and in my opinion horrible treatment of iguanas, but its not fair for everything and everyone to be placed in the same group which is what goverment and peta would have the rest of the world to beleive.

They do WHAT there in Ga.? Don't say the U.S.D.A. regulates reptiles in Georgia, because they DO NOT.

If the U.S.D.A. finds animal abuse with mammals, and reptiles are in the same bldg, they can confiscate EVERYTHING, including the reptiles, however, they do not regulate the care of reptiles.....period. However, I believe it's coming.

Heres your source, deal with them. I believe what the story says is accurate.

Serpent's Den in Lehighton a house of horrors

A report in today's Allentown Morning Call, details the gruesome discovery at the Seprent's Den reptile store in downtown Lehighton this summer.

The stench from the Carbon County store overpowered animal control officers who entered on a tip from a neighbor that the store owner had not visited the store in three months and their were venomous snakes in insecure enclosures.

The snakes were not fed, given water or able to escape their own mounting feces. Except for one boa, which was found slithering through the store.

The July raid at this serpent hell discovered nine dead snakes and resulted in the seizure of: 108 pythons, 19 boa constrictors, 18 rattlesnakes, 6 cobras, 2 vipers, 3 king snakes, 2 milk snakes, 1 rat snake and 1 unidentified snake.

Yes, the store did have venomous snakes: the rattlers, cobras and vipers.

From John J. Moser's article: "The July 22 seizure at Serpent's Den, which operated at 114 S. First St., was the largest known reptile seizure in the state, said Jack Ardey, an animal cruelty officer with the state SPCA. It came to light Thursday because an animal rescuer petitioned Carbon County Court to take them off his hands."

The store owner, Steven Markevich, 44, of 83 E. Third St., Jim Thorpe, Carbon County, has been charged with reckless endangerment, maintaining a public nuisance, 17 counts of animal cruelty and 160 counts of violating the borough exotic pet ordinance.

He is currently on the run.

Markevich's Web site has been abandoned and is now one of those annoying "search" sites.

A little Internet sleuthing turned up a Steve "snakehead" Markevich as a 1982 graduate of Kearny High School in Kearny, N.J.

Seems Steve, or someone else, logged into his Myspace page today and changed his description (sorry, like to the Yahoo cache won't work) from a 44-year-old male to a 20-year-old male and made his profile "private." Hmmm, wonder why?

If anybody is interested, I do have screen shots of his old MySpace page. Yep, the whole page. You gotta love cached Internet pages ...

He's been peddling snakes, turtles and lizards via the Internet for some years now and I wonder how his level of care has been over the years.

I hope they can track this guy down and throw the book at him as much as they can.

Even though snakes aren't cuddly and aren't my favorite, no animal deserves that type of abuse via three months of neglect.

Thanks to Al Walentis for the story tip.

Oh Chuck you have so much Libel on your back. I guess you should answer my questions but you should retract your BS.

The smuggler

Both of you. Cease and desist, please. If either of you continue this running gun battle between yourselves on this site, I will have no choice but to remove BOTH of you. :NoNo:

ah Chuck, your reaching. Being charged and convicted are two separate things. You should know that from your wife.
