    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ok we r wanting to kinda cut back on electricity and I was wondering is there a light bulb that puts out uva and uvb rays but also heat too? I was reading about mercury vapor bulbs and I am really interested in your guys opinion on them and if you use them and what brand they r. Thanx guys!!:)

I LOVE MVBs. They rock and you will see an immediate difference with beardies. I am using the Powersun and Trex brands right now, but hope to switch over to the MegaRays soon. I still keep my old Tube light in the tank anyway for extra light.

I got mine from reptileuv.tripod.com. I know they give off UVB and heat but I am not sure about UVA.

The Mega-Ray SB 100-WATT FLOOD LAMP, this all-in-one lamp is 100-watt SB Par-38 Narrow Flood Lamp which produces more UVB than a standard spot lamp, along with adequate heat at the recommended distances. This Mac Industries/Westron Lighting original design provides the necessary UVB and heat for your UVB-dependent basking reptiles.

I used a mvb bulb and a fluorescent light strip. Because of distance problems in my new enclosures I had to switch to a basking light a reptile uv fluorescent light strip. It seems to be working ok. I still miss the mvb but as long as my babies are doing good then I am happy. Everyone has their own preference on what they like and what works for them. I am new to the hobby and still learning but I hope I have helped a little. :wavey:

lol :) yea I aint that new but the lighting stuff I am exploring new things and wanting to find an easier way fro lighting and maybe a shortage on the electric bill!! lmao! :rofl:

I here you, but my electric is not as bad as when I used to have a salt water tank.

lol well we run 4 heat lamps, 4 uvb, four heat pads, and one nightlight for our gecko...I guess in a way we cant cut donw on electricity because of the bearies...Daniel thinks the same but I though maybe just using one light and one heat pad might help...well the lights run for about 12 hours so I guess since we cant cut their daylight hours back we r screwed anyway we go..

I use the megarays myself and would not use anything else....I have 10 tanks and 3 iguana cages, plus a turtle tank and table that all have them. I don't really know if it will make a difference with the electric bill, mine is outragious but my animals are healthy and thriving and I have had wonderful results with mating with these lights verses tube lighting.
