In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

When I buy vegetables for my baby bearded dragons I have to buy a whole bunch. They don't let me buy a little at a time. So I wind up losing a lot of greens. I would like to get more of a variety but I usually get a couple and when it goes bad get something else. Anyone have suggestions on where I can buy lesser amounts and more different kinds then in the grocery store. When they get bigger it won't be an issue. Right not I waste more than I feed them. :unhappy:

If you have a "Farmers Market" in your area during the summer, that's always a good place to go, but it doesn't help much out of season. I like to feed a nice variety too, so I always end up tossing out greens as well when they start to get wilty..but at least my chickens still like some of them, lol.

You know I never thought of the Farmers Market. We do get one around here now and again. I will check it out thanks. Either that or go buy some chickens. I think my dogs would like that too.lol

Actually, if you're gonna go that far...ducks like em better than chickens. LOL.

But yeah, we have a farmers market here weekly from late spring into the fall, and you can buy great stuff there, better quality than in the stores most of the time, and you can be sure what you are getting, because you can ask the person who actually GREW it......and you can wheel and deal too, that's half the fun of it. Heck, maybe you can find some ducks there too. ;)

Hey, ducks even better. They can give my ornery dogs a little nibble too.lol

Dont forget about your feeders. Crickets, roaches, and worms all love greens. When my greens become so so I throw them to the feeders or if a green such as collards is good for my dragons but they dont prefer it I still get it for my feeders, so my dragons get it whether they like it or not.

Check the pricing closely - most stores offer their greens and veggies by weight, and not by the bunch. Sure, they bundle it all up nicely for you with a rubberband or twist-tie that has the PLU on it... but it doesn't mean you have to get the whole bunch. :)
If its sold by the weight, just take what you need (be sure to make note of the PLU for checkout) and bag it.

Another tip is to shake the excess water off the greens and chop to size before placing them in a large ziplock bag. Either roll the bag or press it flat to get the air out before sealing the bag. Try not to damage the greens as you squish the air out though or they will get slimy as it sits in the frig! If you do it carefully, they should last a week.

OR as a last resort... you could always get more dragons! heheh...

I go to Giant Eagle and it does go by weight but it is wrapped with a band in a bunch. I asked one of the people who was working in produce if I could separate what I need and he said they don't separate the bunches. I'll try chopping it up and putting it in a ziplock and see if that helps. I have so much that I can't even use in a week even feeding the crickets. I am getting another dragon from Sunshine Dragons. I am waiting for a nice bright male. But no more after this one. I don't have that much room.

When I had a smaller # of dragons than I do now, I always hit up the salad bar at my local grocery store. I grabbed the small container and just get a small amount of what I needed. Spring mix, carrots, radish, spinach, strawberries, cantaloupe, whatever you decide to feed them. I only got what I needed and never had to throw anything away because it went bed.

Yeah right in 3 months you'll make the room once you see another 1 you have to have.lol
I personally wouldnt listen to the stock boy or whomever on seperating the bunches, they just dont want to clean it up. Most people dont think to take just how many bananas they want they just take the bunch, but how many times have you seen just 1 or 2 sitting there.

That's some great ideas. Never thought about going to the salad bar and getting just what I need. Also about the bananas I take what I want. If I want less I separate what I want. Most of the time though I get a big bunch. My son just loves them. My husband doesn't know about the male I am getting yet, anymore and me might trade me in on a new one.lol :bang:
