    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am wanting to know if anyone else has an extremely lazy beardie. I have a 1 year old girl(?) who hides in her log pretty much all day and night. She'll eat, but rarely comes out to bask. She has recently acquired a new roommate, a juvenile male(?) They seem to get along well, basking together when she DOES come out. I've never seen them fight or anything, she has definitely established her dominance. She acts almost like she's depressed! (if that's possible). Any comments, suggestions, or advice would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah, she does have UVB light, and it's not too warm in the cage.

First thing I would look at is your temperatures. Dragons like it 105 at the basking spot. I've also noticed an increase in activity (feeding, movement etc) with an increase in light. We went from a single Reptisun 5.0 to a dual fixture and added a standard flourescent (sp?) bulb in the extra slot.

If those are all fine I would recommend a fecal exam. Parasites can drag down a dragon.

Am I correct in assuming that you can use any type of fixture as long as it is has UVB bulbs?

That describes the Rankins Dragon I got from the Atomic Lizard ranch to a T. A few months ago I added another Rankins from Sundial to the cage (its an Animal Plastics T10) and she quickly established her dominance, but she pretty much lives in her rock hut. When she does come out, its always to eat. Ive tried different wattages of bulbs, different furnishing, adding undertank heat but nothing will get her out like a cricket. Since I'm pretty sure she doesnt get enough UVB, I just recently started giving her calcium drops. She is a little pig when she eats too.

I just moved her into a 20 gallon long terrarium, hopefully she'll start venturing out some day.

I meant to add that the vet prescribed the calcium drops.

I can't figure out why no one has mentioned this... But your dragon is most likely wanting to brumate.

Look up some information on brumating, and go from there.

She is brumating now, but thats her normal activity level when she's not too.

If all your temps and such are correct, it probably is brumating as was mentioned. She is old enough, as long as she is healthy, for this to be fine. Just to be sure, take in a fecal sample (better safe than sorry) to rule out an increase in parasite activity. Many beardies will hide away when parasites are on the increase, usally on the cooler side of the cage. Keep her well hydrated and let her brumate if she is healthy. Some only "sleep" for a few weeks, while others will for a couple of months.
