• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.
  • Responding to email notices you receive.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Has anyone had experience buying from Victor Russell? I am looking into some of his corn snakes but would like some good feedback before I send any money and receive an animal.

Mike, the more information you can provide the better. This will allow others to know which Victor Russell you may be referring to. Location, website, Fauna username, etc?
 
unfortunately that is all the information I know. This person must have responded to a wanted ad and emailed me. I cannot find his posting on here.

A couple of suggestions:
1. Read my signature about "Wanted" ads.
2. Use Fauna's private message system instead of publicly posting your email or phone number.
3. Proceed with caution 'if' you proceed at all.

If not too private and you feel inclined to do so, please post his email to you. Wording is very telling sometimes.

Wording in emails is very telling.

Do follow Robert's advice and utilize Fauna's messaging system for want ads. You will have the information that has been requested when you do.
 
I arranged to buy a rosy boa from him last week. We agreed on price and shipping for Tuesday shipment and Wednesday delivery. I asked him yesterday, Tuesday for tracking info with no reply. Today no package came and still after 4 emails no reply. I might be out $175 since I sent the friends and family way on PayPal. Don’t send any money
 
Did he contact you through this site or another forum? Did you post a WTB ad?
 
Never pay with the “friends and family” option on PayPal. You have no recourse to get your money back if you do. Legitimate dealers won’t even ask you to do that. I know it doesn’t help now but if you’re discussing a potential purchase and you’re asked to pay that way, don’t walk, run away.

Same experience here, except I ended up with a tracking for an unknown package that also got lost. If you have any other info about them that’d be helpful but it looks like I was scammed.
