• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

is Square "Cash" like using square to swipe a credit card?
Based on what I could find, I don't believe so. Square "Cash" only works with debit cards and/or bank accounts to do direct bank-to-bank transfers. Square is a true merchant processor where the person sending money can use a credit card.

Many people treat their debit cards as credit cards but the rules for their transactions are different, and depending on how your debit card is used you don't get the same level of buyer protection.

Tom's bank might be able to get the funds back if he can prove the seller was fraudulent.
