In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

As many of you know, I personally have ZERO interest in the social networking features offered on this site (hence no friends or visitor messages). I have even less interest in reading anybody else's visitor messages; but when something gets reported, I take a look....and, sometimes, that look leads me to other profiles.
That was the situation today/tonight, and what prompted this post.

The visitor message boards are not free-for-alls.
They are subject to the same basic rules as the rest of the site, and should not be used for abusive posts. Profanity is no more acceptable than in any general forum. They are visible to all, so please post accordingly.

There isn't any specific statement about visitor messages (they are a relatively new feature here)....but any of the publicly accessible portions of the site are subject to the same basic rules.

I agree, I've come across a few rather nasty comments or messages on the user profiles.

Good info to know, thanks Harald!
