    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I’m currently looking for Eastern Tiger Salamanders in Michigan. If anyone knows where I can find some for sale I’d greatly appreciate it! I’m on a bit of a budget, though so if it’s over $24 I’m not going to be interested. If anyone knows locations of local bublic spawning areas for Eastern Tiger Salamanders Im all ears as well! I’m looking to raise and study them, if anyone is wondering what I want with them. I currently have one adult that I raised last year from a pet shop, but they no longer carry them. All help is appreciated!

I prefer to receive responses via email, Facebook messenger, or text, which will be provided below:

I would be careful about buying Ambystoma tigrinum - they are an endangered species in much of their native range.

Hmm. I can find no listing of any protected or other conservation status of the nominant species or any subspecies of A. tigrinum. In Michigan, where the OP is looking, the species is legal for commercial collection. Do you have any citation to back up your claim of the endangered status?

Perhaps you're thinking of A. californiense or A. mavortium.

When I was a kid, I caught tigers or at least some kind of large Ambystoma in Gladwin, MI. This was over 20 years ago though. Might be worth hunting there if not too far from you

What's the point of you putting all these links that aren't relevant to the question?? Cool, you know how to use Google... I hope the OP is successful in her hunt for tigers. Very fun to work with!

Nothing wrong with keeping Ambystoma tigrinum, just making people aware that they are endangered and illegal to collect in some areas.

"Socratic Monologue" asked for citations

Yep, I did, and I (and hopefully everyone involved) appreciate it. I wasn't aware of this, and I'll bet a lot of other people aren't, either.

I couldn't find any of this on my more general search for the conservation status of the species. I didn't search state by state, but I should have.

I think it is relevant for the OP to know which states have listed this salamander, even if they are completely legal in Michigan. Why? Well, if someone in a state in which these salamanders are listed is trying to sell them to him, he'll know it's illegal, and hopefully not complete the transaction.

On the few occasions in which I have bought animals native to the US (I mostly keep exotics), I always check the legality of the species in the seller's state before buying. I have passed on several box turtles that were illegal, and I wouldn't have known if I hadn't checked.

This is a problem in PA. People are taking Gray Tree Frogs to sell and they are declining now. The Tiger Salamanders if still in PA are illegal to keep. They are thought extinct in the state but there could be some out there since they are more salamanders.
