In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I hate doing this, but I feel like it needs to be put out there....pacificballpythons has stolen a picture of mine, and is using it to sell their own snake. It's obvious that they are different snakes, and this is misleading at the least. (Not to mention his looks to be in rough shape)

here's a link to the ad:
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=483814

and if he ends up taking that down, I do have screen shots of it. I'll leave those off for now.

And pictures to PROVE this is my snake...IE, pictures from that same day.

Stuff like this is why I am working on a watermark for my images. If you want to keep it simple you can use paint just to type "property of Vance Carmon please do not reuse without permission - date". Obviously people may re-use them without consent, but that's enough text to throw up a red flag.

Yeah, just a little sad I have to watermark pics I took for fun xP
Yeah, I am trying to set up an app that will automatically put mine on every pic I save (programming nerd over here), as of right now most of my pics do not have one...too lazy. Lol.

For your phone? Because it's pretty straight-forward in most PC-programs.

I've gotten less committed to watermarking my images over the past couple of years... but that's partially because I don't use generic placement, and I don't want the mark to detract from the image; so I have to place my mark individually in each photo and sometimes make adjustments so it blends in properly. Since I'll probably start doing more snake pictures again soon, I anticipate that I will start watermarking more regularly as a matter of course... it just hasn't seemed worth the trouble for the few images I've posted in the past two years when I wasn't breeding.

Sorry - forgot this was a BOI thread.

Have you contacted him about removing your image from his ad? (I mean other than your unprofessional post in the ad)

You certainly didn't allow much time for a response before posting. I agree that there is no acceptable reason for using another person's picture(s) in one's ad; but, arguably, the proper approach is to contact the offending party first.
Guessing that you sent a PM, did you notice that he hasn't been here since the evening before you reported his use of your image (meaning: he hasn't seen your message)?

FWIW, I suspect that his other ads also include stolen images...Unfortunately, I haven't been as successful in locating them. (Yours was posted on another site in 2013.) My preference would be to allow him the opportunity to correct this himself. Failing that, I will remove your image from his ad.
If he does reply to your message, please update this thread with his response.

The real sad thing is this guy did not even try hard with the add. You can easily notice that the snake is on newspaper then aspen all of a sudden.

He contacted me last week trying to talk me into shipping first on a trade with all kinds of standard scammer tricks. I highly doubt he is who he claims to be. He also uses some app that gave him a New Jersey phone number but he lives in Oregon, and I also just so happened to have been contacted from 3 different shady Oregon people about the same snake in a 2-week period. I strongly suspect his sinister intentions run far deeper than stolen pictures.

I likely would have posted this anyway. Using someone's picture to sell your own snake just smells sketchy, and it's not a bad guy thread...just an info thread. But thanks for taking action if he refuses to. Do you know where my picture was used else where? It's crazy...it's not even that great of a picture, and she's easy to spot because she has gold eyes (which is very uncommon).
