    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am hesitant to add this here, but I think it will probably get the most use in this forum, so perhaps it is relevant.

I am in the process of setting up the new warning system I had set up for me the other day. I want the options listed in it to be appropriate to this site, so I am looking for feedback from you all.

The poll is set up for multiple selections, so simply check the ones that you believe are appropriate and fitting for use here. If you have something to add that I have overlooked, please add that to this thread and I will consider it.

Antagonism towards moderators

How about moderators who don't know how to act as a moderators but post inflamatory posts. I think they should go by the same rules as others are expected to...

This is a serious request on my part. I already have a forum on this site called 'Just For Laughs' that you are invited to visit and post your comments if they are intended to only get laughs.

Any moderators on this site will be subject to being called down if they act inappropriately. I expect anyone whom feels this is the case to contact me and let me know of the issue and I will look into it. I will not automatically side with anyone simply because they are a moderator.

Please note that they will have their own opinions, but that does not supercede the opinions of anyone they are in the position to moderate. A moderator's job will be to quell arguments by trying to moderate the issue, not inflame an issue. If their opinion does happen to cause an argument to flare up, I expect them to remember that they are a moderator and if necessary ask myself or another moderator (more will be added as needed) to step in.

But I will be taking care in the people I ask to act as a moderator. I watched the way Ken Harbart has acted for a long time before asking him to act as a moderator here. Ritchie is just a bit too volatile for a moderator, especially when it comes to the BOI, and I honestly believe he is not comfortable with that role. Being a moderator would actually be a drawback to what I see him being best at on this site. So although he can perform the duties of a moderator when needed, that is not his role here.
 
How will thiis work? Who will do the warnings (you?) How much is each warning worth, and when will it result in a ban? Does the level go down with time?
 
Just a suggestion. Maybe each warning should be agreed on by all Moderators of whichever forum is in question. Or perhaps by all Mods. This way it is more of a commitee of people making the desicion. I also think that the number of warnings allowed should be low.
 
I believe the software installed will allow all moderators and administrators to be able to file a warning on a user. But I believe this is controlled by a setting I can change. Initially, I will probably limit that to my use only until I get a better feel for how effective (or not) it will be. There are some things in the software that I am not sure of what they do exactly yet. I'm still learning this, guys.

I can also set the value of each warning, depending on how severe I believe the infraction to be. And I can also set the limit on where a banning appears to be prudent. To be honest, I don't even know if the system is set up to ban a user automatically or how that works yet. The software was kind of skimpy on some details.

As for using a committee for determining issuing a warning, of course, that will not be necessary to even consider at this point, but my gut feeling is that if I trust someone to be a moderator, I am going to have to trust their judgement in issuing warnings as well.

Oh, one more thing.

I may use the results of the poll here to use as a relative guide to what people think are the most important issues for this warning system. Of course, some things, like simply forgetting to put in a FULL NAME, will be lowest on the scale, even though it may get a high number of votes for being included.

I am going to try to be as reasonable as possible about this. I don't think there will be any surprises in it.

Moderators = of course the same thing should be expected of them. I personally think Ken and webslave are doing a good job.

The Watchers (Ferrets, stink sniffer outers, Liar Exposer) = Be careful what you type out. These people will sniff out your lies sooner or later. You get caught off guard with the way they do things....you start getting mad. You start typing before thinking. Whamo your lies are out for the world to see. So far there is only one of him. Most people e-mail him and pm him the links and quotes he needs to "out" the liars. But the webslave mentioned about looking to add more. I know of a couple who are better at digging around than I am. And they are much nicer and much more eloquent too. And I sure do hope they get "the job".
 
I wasn't refering to the sight owner. I haven't ever seen him say or do anything that could be considered petty. You on the other hand seem to have the same problem you accuse others of. That being posting threads (example being Adam) that only drag on and start silly needless bickering and then wonder why this site has problems. Yea i know your a dog and sniff out the bad guys. That would be fine if you did that and stuck to that but you don't. Funny how you say i'll shut down a thread until the site owner gets back and then start one that is as ridicules as the one shut down. If that isn't juvenile i don't know what is. Say what you may about me that's fine but just like you run wild with every thread that get's started i will speak my mind. I'm sure you sniffed hard for dirt on me (of course you will deny this) but you won't find any because their isn't any.. I know your sitting waiting for my reply and here it is.

Hello , please open your eyes. Your hatred of me is blinding you. The one shut down was a "BAD GUY" thread. And all it did was spout accusations without proof.
Look at the thread I started. It was an INQUIRY. I never said he was bad. I never said he did anything wrong. I just simply basically asked a question.

Let me say this. The inquiry I posted about Adam was legitimate. I did not accuse. I did not insinuate. I simply wanted to find the people he sold to. It was other people who turned it into something else. Sorta like this thread. It is you who turned it into something else.

Personally I voted an x in every catagorey
A lot of stuff goes on and a lot of stuff doesn't, it was kind of hard to be objective here. at least for me it was. I mean look at this thread ....it started with the webslave asking all the people here an opinion and then it strayed off on an attack [maybe not so directly but the point was there...right ] on one or more moderators and the watchers. So this being said and all, I think a warning system would be one of the best things that could happen here.

And you'll be right their questioning and clearing the situation. IMO its more a service than a popularity contest OR personal feelings............. I know if someone attacked her or anyone, whether you liked them or not, you would disclose ANY info that related to the truth of the matter.

That is one of the thing that has made the board valuable to many...... maybe not made people happy at times, but thats not the purpose of it.

On the other hand, I can see her opinion. People that are new here and don't know the history of some, it does come off as harsh.... so its seeking a medium and all of us remembering that there are newer people that are not aware of some things that have gone on in the past.

Yes we have discussed in another thread that I do need to remember how I come off. So as aforementioned in the other thread. I will just post quotes and links and maybe ask some questions.
