In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Warning on a possible dishonest seller "Covington Reptiles"

I was surprised to find that my login still worked at KS, but I threw a post onto the discussion forum (new post, so it stays near the top and I can find it again) inviting the poster to give me the contact information of the person he claims to have obtained the from.

If it's a wholesaler, then it's a big enough business to be reccognized.

If it's reccognized, then contact information can be verified.

I somehow doubt he'll be willing to provide this information but we'll see I guess... anyone willing to add a reply and pressure the individual into providing the information that will validate his claims, your efforts would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Some people are creative!

Let's hope he is being honest about it and he himself was scammed by another individual without him knowing.

but i am not out to screw anyone and i am not out to mislead anyone. the pastel ball post was an honest mistake. it was an individual who sold it to me that said he got it as a pastel from a show.

Let's also hope that the "Pastel" sold for $75 and not the $1,000 he was asking for. But, I'm sorry, if any of you remember his ad he claimed the ball python came from his own line of pastels. He was not saying he was brokering it.

there is a decent chance that this was a hoax but like it said it is hit or miss.

Of course, one can always find a trustworthy individual to pay more for a normal ball python thinking it is special, that is "hit"

Here is another person who decide to view this on a humurous manner:

Home of the original Blue Balls!!

the probable buyer is coming sunday to take him home. he is going to know where our business is and i will give him my address and name. what dumbas would pay that much and not do it this way. how would i scam someone think about it before you start making up complete lies about me.

The best way to handle this would be to tell this potential client of yours to wait until they shed. If it's just a dye it will more than likely go away with the old skin. But from what I'm reading, if the person comes over, pays and takes them home it's a done deal.

Regards.

You guys are having way too much fun with this one! When I saw the ad for the blue python I just about jumped up laughing! I was even thinking of putting up a similar ad myself, even played around with the idea of building a parody “kingsnake.com” complete with fake ads and dealer links advertising such obvious ads full of lies, stupidity, and deceit. Maybe I’ll get to making it one day.

Personally, I have a feeling this guy was screwed by another guy who claimed they were the “real thing”, and let him have them at a great price. Maybe misheard the part about the red Gatorade while the snake was being bagged up and the money was exchanging hands. I think I’m giving this guy way to much credit; it is just hard to believe how many people are trying to rip you off in such obvious ways for some cash in their pockets.
Thanks
Justyn

I too remarked about it on KS and someone must have took offense to it. I have no idea who this guy is, buy he sent me this email.

LOOK HERE MAN. I HAVE MORE BALLZ THAN YOU EVER WILL. IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE. I WAS JUST SAYING THAT IF YOU ACCUSE HIM OF SOMETHING THAT IS
FALSE THEN YOU WILL LOOK AS STUPID AS HE WILL IF THIS IS A HOAX. I
DIDN'T SAY ONE WAY OR THE OTHER IF THE SNAKES ARE REAL OR NOT. I JUST PUT
A THOUGHT INTO SOMEONE'S HEAD ABOUT TALKING TRASH THAT THEY HAD NO
BUSINESS TALKING ABOUT OR ACCUSING SOMEONE OF SOMETHING THEY DIDN'T DO
UNLESS THEY WERE 100% SURE IT IS A HOAX. FURTHERMORE, I AM NOT HIM, AND IF
YOU TALK TRASH ON ME IN THE FORUM I WILL BUST YOUR ASS. IF YOU HAVE
SOMETHING TO SAY TO ME YOU CAN SAY IT TO ME. I DON'T DO THIS MONKEY
AROUND BULL[bleep]. HOW MANY MORPHS DO YOU HAVE? HOW ABOUT ALBINO
VIRIDIS? I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THAT SINCE THE PROJECT WAS IN IT'S INFANCY.
I'M NO FOOL AND I NEED NO HELP. IF YOU FEEL A FURTHER NEED TO CONTACT
ME THEN FEEL FREE TO DO SO, BUT IF YOU JUST WANT TO TALK TRASH ABOUT
SOMEONE YOU DON'T KNOW THEN GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, AND LEAVE ME OUT O!
F IT.

Wow, I got an amazingly similar e-mail : )

That and that other guy saying he'll never sell to me.
I'm so hurt now....I think that I'll just go and sell the collection that I've spent the last 8 or so years (and my last $$$, lol) building and take up orchid growing.

"sigh"

Oh well....I'm off to fry up all those eggs now. Anyone care to join me for a Ball Python omelet??

Okay,so

Since I am the one who actually fell for it and made a bid, I figured in all fairness this guy should know about this thread. So last night I e-mailed him and gave him a heads up about it. This is his responce:

To all who have become ensnared in this red ball python fiasco, I wish to impart some first hand information that may shed some light on the topic for you.
The vendor claims in one of his posts that he obtained these animals from a woman outside Atlanta. That they were captive hatched from a gravid import female and that the father was unknown.
I personaly spoke with the vendor soon after the first ad was posted in the classifieds and was told that the "red" balls were the result of a breeding of a het. for carmel albino male to an imorted female (presumably by the vendor), and to his shock and amazement two "red" babies were produced.
There seems to be a discrepancy in the origin of these animals. Do the math folks.

Well, at least the word was spread fast enough. It would be nice to know the name and address of this individual. If at all possible I would like to avoid people sending money his way in the future. Anyone has the information?

If your looking for hype and bs statements like "it could be genetic", "possible new morph", or dye colored stock, etc. Please use your back button NOW!!!
If you are looking for nice looking females, eye candy, no hype, bs, or misrepresentation, then read on.
These are females that I picked up from a friend that was able to cherry pick from a large lot. He allowed me to pick out a few from his purchase. All selections were made strictly on eye appeal. They have shed and they have fed 1x. They are not "pounding mice". If you like what you see, know how baby balls feed and don't feed at every offering, Make me an offer. Any snake being offered, and I mean ANY, is only worth what somewhat is willing to pay.
I accept PayPal and US Postal Money Orders.

Thanks for reading my post.
Sorry if any statement or comment offends anyone but I felt it was necessary because of several misleading dishonest ads that have been recently posted.

This kills me.....

Kingsnake removes my "blue ball" ad.......and leaves up all of the others.:crying:

Everyone is out to get me I tell ya....

At least my picture looked semi realistic.

Oh well.... I just hope that people don't get messed over....there are enough scam artists out there, we don't need another one.

When Calci sand first hit the market a few years ago, a friend of mine switched all the snakes he had bought from me to cages with the different colored sands. Sure enough, a few days later I was back there to talk to him about something and a normally bright orange Kenyan sand boa was BLUE! And I mean BLUE! It had spilled the water bowl and the wet calci sand's color coated the snake. When it shed, it went back to normal. We had the same result with a neon green snow cal king and others. As it is non toxic and digestible, it did no harm to the animals. We joked about how much a dayglo blue Kenyan sand boa would sell for online, but we were only joking and would never do something like that. The gatorade effect is well known too. It is good that some junk dealers soak the animals in gatorade though. At least you are getting a hydrated animal. The coloration is not usually that dramatic though from gatorade. Somebody pointed out earlier and I agree, for some reason uromastyx pick up gatorade color well though. Just thought I would give you guys another thought on the subject. Evan Stahl

No more coloring eggs at Easter.

I'm gonna color me some snakes!:D

Someone claims to have bid 10 grand for these little scams:
http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=15857,16101

It is an all-out soap opera now. This person who "bid 10K" gets very angry in another post at everyone saying they are a scam:
http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=16256,16256

And finally, the seller has deicded to take these off the market until they shed as to avoid scamming people. How nice!
http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=16606,16606

Anyway, I found the threads to be an interesting half-hour of reading and chuckling. I hope that these guys shed, the color disappears, and so does this seller who has been posting some pretty dishonest/conflicting stuff in KS in addition to the "red ball" ad itself.

buyer ip 68.96.224.88 in that thread

seller ip ip 205.188.208.165 in that last thread

you can view this by viewing the source of the page (search for "entered from ip" if you don't want to scan through the document)

That's all the homework I'll do... I'm going back to laughing at blue balls.

I wasn't trying to say these two are the same guy, just recapping some of the drama. Maybe this guy never thought it would get so out of hand he'd be taking tens of thousands from some guy and decided not to go there? I wouldn't be surprised if the seller never posted about the red balls again, or if he decided to "just keep them for himself." Will be interesting to see.

I really hope the herp hobby doesn't start to turn into what goes on in the tropical fish hobby.

Tetras injected with red dye for valentines day, green dye for St. Patricks day, painted glass fish, jelly bean parrot cichlids, blueberry oscars and tetras, strawberry oscars and tetras, and so on. There are a LOT of fish being dyed to increase sales and profits nowadays.

It really pisses me off when the stores sell these fish and tell the customers that they are naturally colored this way. The fish either dies from the stress of the dye job or the color fades. I have been asked to leave a few stores because I "cost them a sale" by telling the customer the truth.

The last thing this hobby needs is dyed snakes. Especially when there are so many beautiful normals and morphs to choose from.

I wouldn't be surprised if this guy sells all types of dyed fish as well.
