Well... you'd get blamed for whatever the result was but that's going to happen with you paying attention or not, so it's not really a unique downside. A certain subsection of the member base is going to start looking at degrees of seperation and follow anything having to do with the site back to you as having the ultimate responsibility no matter how active or inactive you are. You're the logical final set of shoulders if someone starts following the idea that nothing would be posted on fauna if there were no fauna...

I always felt bad for Dr Frankenstein. All he really did was play with a needle and set up a lightning rod. He didn't actually point his creation at the nearby town and tell it to accidently terrorize the population. Everyone's always so quick to forgive the monster because it was unable to change it's appearance and so quick to crucify the doctor just because his experiment knocked him sideays over a slab, ripped a four inch thick steel bound door off it's frame and got away from him.

Heck... Fauna is even a sort of muted green color (today). If only Igor (It's pronounced "Eyegore") hadn't taken the brainjar labeled "Insane" The brain drives the creature... and as anyone who disagrees with any specific decision is so quick to point out, Fauna is driven by it's members. That's going to change depending on the mood though... when people want something, it's the members who built the site and provided the content, you just supplied the framework. When they don't like how something is going though, it's clearly all your fault, Herr Doctor.

I would think that if Rich feels the need to take a break then who can blame him? there are times in all our lives when we have to take a step back from something before we loose the real reason we are there to Begin with. I my self am at that point in my life with something I'm involved in and I have not stepped in that place in 2 months other then our once a month meetings. if we don't take that step back we feel as if we loose all interest and not even care anymore.

I'm sure that 95% of the members here will understand that Rich may have reached this point. and for the ones who don't understand well then thats their problem no one I'm sure will miss 5% of the members, now I may be wrong and if I am then someone please correct me and I will be the first to admit it.

Then we have the people that want to sit here all day and call eachother names and pick on one another, This is not a play ground we are not children we are if I'm not mistaken adults, now there may be a few teens in here but I don't think you fall into this category, and if you do then PLEASE meet somewhere after school and take it Else where. This is one of the reasons Rich feels the need to get away from here I'm sure it's not hepling matters any.

Jeez this is still going huh....
Things have been quieter here this past week, guess some are waiting to see how things shake out with all these new folks able to hand out warnings. Happens every time there is a change here, wait and see how it works out before taking a chance.

As for Wes and Dand well to be honest I hadn't really given any thought to who would hit who first. Myself if someone I'm at odds with really needs one I'll pass it to a super Mod to deal with.. I will say this I'm not searching this site looking for things to ding people over..

Things will hopefully settle in a week or two and the people going warning happy will either settle down or lose the ability. Myself I look at this as curbing the really obnoxious but not inhibiting the usefulness of this site.. Just my half cent worth..Randy

Brian, no offense to you really, but I find it very odd that DAND can issue Wes points for antagonism, calling someone something other than their name, yet your post above was overflowing with the same. You called Wes a liar yet the last time I looked, his name was still Wes. You compared Wes to a meth-addict. That sounds pretty antagonistic to me and to anyone else reading this. Not to mention the rest of your post.

Where to start on this one Bob. I don't take any offence at all first off. Secondly you make connections with words which were not specifically implied. The meth addict comment was not a direct comparison as you think it was, more a cheeky addition to keep it on a half way humorous level. Third calling someone a "liar" when you have thus provided the proof of such from past actions shouldn't be deemed a personal attack. If it is the the BOI is in big time trouble when scammers who have "lied" in the past are confronted with said actions.

As for David and "dinging" me with points. How many times has Rich, Jay, Dennis, or any other moderator or admin from any other board stated they can't read every single post made in a days time. Trust me it is impossible on a site with less than 400 members, so it is really a stretch to do so on a site of this magnitude. If I get a point for posting the truth and speaking my mind in a rather blunt and straight to the point manner so be it. Just how I am on matters like this. No need to beat around the bush and all that jazz as my time is rather limited and time equates to money.

Bit of blame? Why? Everything I have done here has been to try to make this site better. And all I caught was flak because of it from every angle. Yeah, not everyone would agree with everything I tried to do, but why the hostility over it?

So when I got tired of this crap, guess what? Even more hostility because I wasn't willing to keep on trying for all eternity. Screw that........

This particular plan was designed to give those members with enough initiative and commitment to want to change things a hand in pushing the site that direction. Yeah, it is a lot like grabbing the nettle, because it will be a thankless task for anyone to take up. But guess what? It's what myself and the mods have been trying to do here all along. So if you choose to not be part of the solution, then your complaints about the final result as well as the manner in order to try to get there are going to be falling on deaf ears.

Wes, it wouldn't surprise me at all to know that you have received the vast majority of "dings" under this system, and the vast bulk of them from the two to whom you refer. You ask for it. You know that every time that you refer to him as "dandy" he will give you more points. It's that simple and you still do it. Rich has seen your posts, and the points assessed, and has not seen fit to change things. I'm really not sure what you are trying to prove, but you are getting points from people other than those two as well, people with no reason to have bias.

Frankly, I agree that Dand ought to refer your posts to one of the supermods because of your pre-existing animosity. The pattern is obvious that he is gunning for you, but you present a huge target for him with your posts, and he is within the site rules to do what he is doing. I don't think it speaks well for him to be gunning for you but that is for his conscience to deal with, and his reputation will be the one affected by it.

Sometimes you need to look beyond the reasons YOU would use Randy, when you are trying to figure out WHY someone else does something YOU would not do. I'm not ragging you here, just pointing out that I did know what I was doing, it did work as I knew it would, and that it wasn't for attention, as you mistakenly thought it was.

If you're going to use a concept that was expressed in a Spider-Man comic (and it's often a valid one, it's a poignant line even if the fiction it was pulled from did have pictures) you've gotta get it right. Lee and Kirby deserve their credit for that iconic one liner.
