    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Rose colored Glasses

Just like at my basketball games the fans see the game through there rose colored glasses. Here Christopher get you a pair...OOOPs you are already wearing some. No Christopher I teach a little higher level than that. It has something to due with genetics, Planck's Constant, Charles and Boyle's Law, and quantum physics but I can see you have no idea what I am talking about because I don't think you probably ever made it to my classroom...

In all seriousness ... really. You quoted a post from some other corner of Fauna as an example of consistent, or inconsistent, application of rules enforcement. You did not note the date of the referenced post, which would be of some relevence. But lets assume it was yesterday, just for argument's sake. Here's some assumptions on my part:

1) Of those with the power who have decided to exercise it, I do not believe a one would have let that post slide, had they seen it. If its in some corner somewhere, many would not see it.

2) Most of us have raised children. We each handle those learning moments in youth discipline where the child attempts to implicate others who may have gotten off easier, if not escaped penalty altogether, as a means of somehow mitigating their own offenses. To each his own who has had to teach that lesson, but it usually is a failed strategy.

If the example was pre-January 21st, then it was not an applicable comparison. Good luck with the teaching stuff.

Friendly, sincere advice. I make it a habit to not hit the submit button for at least 5 minutes after I compose a post that was written when I am annoyed. I then re-read the post and it is amazing how often good sense takes over and an edited version is what is submitted. If I were you, I would step away from the computer, have a relaxing cold one and refrain from posting for a few hours. The meltdown a few posts back is indicative of someone who is not in a good place to be making rational posts at the moment.

I always hate it when someone who shares a demographic with me goes and does something embarassing. The more specific the demographic, the less I like it and, of course, the more pride or self identification I put into my inclusion in the demographic the worse it is too. American irish, for any number of historical reasons, tend to keep the fact that they are irish further forward in their minds than modern natural born irish citizens- it's the best thing that it's possible to be ethnically and culturally and we're all well aware of it. That's not to downplay any other racial, ethnic or cultural background... you're all equal with one another and just slightly below the perfection of the irish. Sometimes even the best genes can produce slugs and negative formative mutations though. The kind that shouldn't be seen by the general public.

It's akin to the herper who shows up to speak publically during a legislative debate about animal control laws that shows up in khakis and a pith helmet and ends up shouting death threats and being escorted out of the building. They just tarnish everyone that shares any characteristics with them in some small way.

Jim I agree with you on that note. It was pre-January 21st but then I go back to Griz's questions early about giving the power to certain individual's that have not earned it. Doesn't moral integrity count for anything and shouldn't it be one of the grounds for the postions. In reference to the date it was 10-3-2006 and it's not like Christopher is a child. He has his age listed as 40. Just questioning not threatening by any means
 
Mike, I am honestly curious about where you saw a threat in the post that was made. I really think you misread it, but if I missed something, please enlighten me.

Seamus I have dual citizenship. No insult was taken as matter of fact I think Jim added a little brevity to the situation. Boy everybody is so sensitive since in 1/21/07. I wonder why that is??

Also the advice given to step back and cool off is pretty sound. I agree on that note as far as having a cold one..Sorry I don't drink and it would be alittle early on a Friday anyway

Normally I'd close with the quip, "ya dumb mick" just for poo and giggle, but with The Inquisition in full force I am FORCED into writing all airy and fluffy so as not to "insult" those to whom I have not a care in the world for FULLY knowing that they too care not for me but only the chance to be the "one" to ding me yet again.

I don't particularly care if you take insult with my post, you're an embarassment and, I'm pretty sure, a filthy liar about any number of things. Be insulted, it was insulting and if you were able to comprehend written english, you'd understand that.

Not worth going back in the thread to find exact quotes, but the same sentiments were expressed by many of us, this mick included. We didn't get everything we wished for is all. I've got a couple of humdinger posts buried from yesteryear. Real embarrassments. I hope that they stay buried.

Seamus Yes I do have dual citzenship. Parents were both born their and if you like to I can PM the towns and ecerything about my ancestry. As far as coaching basketball, I said I REFEREE BASKETBALL not coach. Yes I do teach teach the afore mentioned classes. If you give me your address I will send you a copy of my teaching certificate and class schedule. Sir you better be careful about who you call a liar. Big brother is watching.

Have we come to the point where all sense of humor and brevity has been removed? Seamus if you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at. Ethnicity included. I have lived my life on the southside of Chicago in a neighborhood where I was called the "dumb mick" because my parents worked hard for my siblings and I to afford to live there. Said example was made BEFORE the warning system revision modification of 01-21-2007.

The language used was profane,rude and uncalled for.
For this i was given the proper warning points called for at the time.
I broke the rules and accept the penalty for my actions.
Since that time there has been a revision of the warning points system.


If anyone has been offended by the language,
I apologize.

OK I must stop. Got dinged again. For what I am unsure of but it doesn't seem to matter. Wes I have almost caught up to you and at this rate I'll be banned by March 1st. The powers that be have taken over and won. I guess I must retire to reading post and just sitting back and not voicing my opinions at all. Unfortunately, isn't that what we do to children when we don't allow them to voice their feelings and opinions. Wasn't that what women faught against for years to become less subserviant? No I am not a robot but I guess I will have to take out my battery pack for awhile.
 
I do have to wonder......how DID you get dinged for "warning system abuse"?
