In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Just a minor complaint about the warning system..

A.) From my understanding there are approximately 40 Moderators on the site...
B.) At any time a Moderater can issue warning points for infractions on the site....regardless of when the post was made, and who gave the person warning points.

Now what i dont get is how and why is it possible for one person to get warning points from several moderators for one "bad" comment anywhere on the site, at anytime, when one warning is fair enough? Example. I drop the F-bomb to insult someone... Moderator A issues 1 point for profanity... then 3 minutes later a Moderator B issues 1 point for the same post.... THEN 3 days later Moderator B issues another point for the same post, then Moderator D issues a point for the same F-bomb post......

ffs... that's in a way, overkill in warning points. Seriously... knowing that there's a potential that I can get up to 40 warning points for one cuss word is just utter nonesense. And yes people do make mistakes and slip up, but for the love of buddah they dont need to be reminded repeatedly about it. It really is irritating more than anything else.

Anywho, does rich and the other admins have any plans on implimenting a better warning system so the same person doesnt get nailed for the same infraction 23932 times?? or is the warning system that's in now it?

You really aren't too smart are ya?

It's all explained, several times, in this very forum.

Try reading.

Wes,

Speaking as this forum's moderator, your personal issues with Nora do not belong in this forum. Please do not stalk her throughout the site. Your comments in the post above are really on the line of warning point worthy for a post outside the BOI. First and only warning.

Nora,

It is up to each moderator's discretion whether an infraction deserves a warning from that moderator. Generally speaking, minor infractions are hit once, serious ones are hit multiple times, and those in-between are hit somewhere between once and "multiple".

Rich put this system into place to allow the moderator team to send a clear message to the membership. In the case of the f-bomb, I think it is generally understood that that language is not appreciated here...so many of the moderators (if they see it) will issue the profanity warning. Some may check to see if (and/or how many times) that particular occurrence has been warned, some may not.
While Wes' response gives the impression of some bad blood, this HAS been discussed and explained several times since the new moderator program was implemented....

JimO, I was serious in what I said. She is here trolling. She knows full well why and how the system works.

There is no bad blood between us, there is nothing at all between us. I have known her for years and know exactly what she is up to here and for her to think that I, if not others, do not know exactly what she is up to is, in a few words, not too smart.

That is exactly the way I designed the system. If enough moderators get irritated at you using the "f-bomb" and feel the potential is there for it to be a continual problem, they have the power to stack the warning points until you get escorted out the door. This system was a way to give some substantial control over what goes on here to the members themselves.

The solution to the problem, from your perspective? Read the rules here and try hard to understand and follow them. As long as you follow the rules (which should be pretty common sense about participating on a publicly accessible message board), then it is highly unlikely that you will ever have to worry about the warning points being an issue with your status here.

So is it working? Seems to be, as best as I can see. There were some rough spots at first, but things seem to be working their own way out as they learn from trial and error how best to utilize this system.

Did I think that everyone was everyone going to just love the system? Nope. But that was part of the design as well. There will always be members here that don't seem to be able to fit in. This gives ANY member here the potential to have a say in that situation without ME having to take all the heat. Now, if you get banned or suspended, you have to take it up with the person or persons who made that decision. I may sometimes ask them about that decision, but as much as is possible to do, I will back them and give them the benefit of any doubt that might arise.

Wes,

I believe it may be best to not treat a troll (if this is true in this instance) in exactly the manner that they want to try to instigate.

I took this thread as just yet another person being pissed at getting warning points. I think most of you are familiar with this kind of reaction at this point.

Thanks...........

The rest of the points mentioned I think were covered adequately, but this particular comment I have a problem with.

Yes people do often slip up in an argument when they are in a face to face confrontation and say things they regret or don't even mean.
On a forum though, this doesn't hold water. It takes several minutes to type out the post, and usually a fair amount of time before hand formulating the response so that is cuts to the desired degree. Then you still have the chance to reconsider your words before hitting the submit button.
No, making mistakes and slipping up just doesn't hack it on an internet forum. Posts are deliberate and planned, whether it be the F bomb or insulting someone's mother as you did Nora. It is never something done without thinking, as in verbal communication, it requires deliberate action on the part of the person making the post. You don't just accidentally type out an attack and hit submit before you realize what you're doing.

What it boils down to is if you don't like the repercussions of your actions, take better care as to how you act.

As far as this thread is concerned im not going to discuss what was said in the BOI as this is not the place for it. What I said toward Wes in the BOI is done. I could honestly care less if wes or anyone else wants to keep bringing it up. I've already formed my opinion about Wes, said my piece and left it alone. The End.

If wes wants to keep saying something about my intelligence, fine, so be it. I dont care... yet you call me a troll? ROFLMAO..please wes, you should be the LAST person to insinuate that I'm being a troll. And dont say you know me cuz you don't know squat. You never have, and you never will. You may know me from the boards but that's it. I dont cause problems or get banned from websites. Hell this is the only site ive ever got 4 whole warning points from...WOOOOOOOOO! I pick my fights and choose my wars, and you aren't even worth 10 seconds of my time Mr Pollock. You are nothing to me as you will always be that little person behind the desk that no one gives a hoot about. Now run along and go play with your little buddies and snakies and live a happy and prosperous life.

Anywho...I searched for other threads about the warning system.. looked at the tos, and the faq's and tried to find as much information as far as the number of times a person can be issued warning points..say is if there was a limit or if the points can keep coming regardless of when the post was made.. I know how the basics of the system works, just wanted to get a little more insight on it.

Thanks for your responses Jim, Rich and Harald.. and if i have any other questions i'll be sure to just PM an admin.
