In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Weather

Man I was going to complain about it being cold in Jersey, but I feel sorry for all of you with the snow deal. It was so cold yesterday that I actually got burns on my face walking my dog around the block. My poor dog, Tal, who loves the cold actually doesn't want to go outside except to do his business and that's it. Hope this cold snap breaks soon.

I drove in that snow Mike was talking about. Friday I had to trek down to South Bend IN.
This was a driving experience from hell I tell ya...
First we have a small mishap that leaves us leaving at night (daughter turned on suburban, or thought she did, battery doesn't like that, you get the message  )
On a 4 to 41/2 hour drive it takes a little over 7 hrs. IN has no snow coming, oh no, this is all MI lake affect. So I spend a blissfully no snow freezing week end in IN.
Come sunday, time to go. No snow but I know it is snowing in MI. I think how can it be THAT bad as I am just over the line between the two state?
The minute, literally, I hit "welcome to Michigan" it starts snowing, bad!
It gets worse as I head up state on 31. I miss a turn because I can not see the signs. Marilyn(daughter)gets fed up at not being able to see them, we are all crazily laughing at our predicament, she gets out and goes to the sign, she starts to shake it madly, I am hysterically laughing as I watch this from the car. Snow is falling all around her yet it is stubborn snow and will not get off to read and she is just as stubborn and keeps shaking, lol. Eric (my son) jumps out of the burb with the window snow brush starts down by the sign as well. He is 5'11 he steps down by the snow and shrinks to about 3 feet! Marilyn starts back, tears are strolling down my face, I just couldn't help this scene that was folding out before me. He gets out of the ditch? and gets in front of the sign and jumps up and whacks it. FINALLY we can see we are going the wrong way on the wrong rode! Nothing in these small towns were open, sometimes they fooled us by leaving lights on only to be closed anyway :ack2:
Needless to say it took almost 11 hours to get home. I am still recouping!
We know there were dark forces at work that night, twilight zone or something

THAT is a trip that will bring laughter for years and years to come! I'm glad you made it home safely!

No complaining from me this week....I'm in sunny Orlando!

Welcome Terese ! I'm about 40 miles SW of Orlando. Sure looks cold on the TV up there all you Eskimo volunteers ! Saw two gopher tortoises out in the yard today (I have a wild colony of about 6) enjoying the sun and temps in the 70's. Corona weather !

I'll tell you what, Jim....I had to drive to Boynton Beach for an appointment today, and after spending the past weeks in NJ, Chicago, Dallas and even a below-normal cold in Scottsdale......it was a joy! I drove with the windows down and the radio turned up, and even decided to brave the Friday afternoon traffic on A1A for awhile on the way back up north to get some ocean breeze! It was sooooo relaxing.....I can understand why people brave the summer heat and the hurricanes to live here!

I have to go to town today so I go out to start the burb and the sun is shining, the streets are dry and I can take the mazda YAY! It is also a bit warmer.
I am so hoping that spring does come early this year!

We've actually been ABOVE FREEZING for highs the last couple of days.....things are getting muddy and mushy in spots, but I'm not going to complain, lol. Just got back from dropping my daughter at school a bit ago, and it was warm enough to roll down the window a bit and let the ol doggie stick her nose out to smell the sights....life is good. ;)

Sposed to get ice and freezing rain this weekend, but I'm still in denial and thinking it's spring.

Hey Cat

That stuff your getting in Iowa right now can stay there or send it due north, Michigan doesn't need it......Deal?

I think you need it worse than we do, lol!!! Got about an inch of ice, now we're under a blizzard warning....supposed to get a foot or so of snow.

If I can get it to go straight north, I'll give it a shot. ;)

Oh no no no, no more blizzards for me :NoNo: lol
I am higher in MI then most and here it is icy but roads are dry and I have seen the sun coming out almost everyday the past week. Some days were warmer 44 one day :) and some were colder. It is the sun that makes me want to get out there no matter the temps. It even sets me to a better mood :yesnod:
Here's to hoping winter ends soon.

It's been gorgeous here all week....high 60's :) Got some thunderstorms last night so today was a bit cloudy, but we're expecting more sunshine tomorrow. If Spring hit full tilt tomorrow, it wouldn't be a minute too early for me!

I claim foul....

Got up this morning, the wind is blowing at about 35 mph right now. Figured I would go and get the big animals taken care of early. Stepped outside, thought ok not bad only about 2 inches of snow....stepped on the first step and slipped all the way (only 5 steps) thank the lord I have lots of padding.

I forgot the warning about freezing rain...seems there is a layer under the snow that is nothing but a 1/2 of ice. I don't even want to try driving on it till later.

Cat I thought we had a deal.....

Eh, sorry.....I did my best, but the powers that be just didn't seem to want to listen, lol.

We lost power for quite awhile, but thankfully are back and functioning now. Many of the folks in my area aren't so lucky....I see many schools are delayed or cancelled for tomorrow already due to power outages....at least it warmed up enough today so they did a fairly good job of getting the roads cleaned. What a relief, I can go to work tonight....

And the new forecast.........

OCCASIONAL LIGHT FREEZING RAIN OR FREEZING DRIZZLE IS POSSIBLE THIS MORNING. SNOW IS FORECAST MAINLY NORTH OF A LINE FROM POCAHONTAS THROUGH HAMPTON TO WAVERLY WITH LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES. THE COMBINATION OF THESE STRONG WINDS AND SNOW WILL PRODUCE LIFE THREATENING BLIZZARD CONDITIONS. SUBSTANTIAL BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WILL OCCUR ALONG WITH WHITEOUT CONDITIONS. TRAVEL WILL BECOME VERY DIFFICULT IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE BY THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

Thank you very much for that forecast and reminderCat, ;) it is about what mine looks like here too :ack2:

Today I have to go into town, looks like I am going to do some extra shopping for food as well and stay home!
Still hoping for that early spring :yesnod:

Eeeeesch, lucky you.....

We went and picked up hay this morning, and already saw a car in the ditch. My son got out of school early, and said there was one in the ditch just down the road from our place. I'm thinking I'm not going to work tonight, lol....but I stocked up on groceries yesterday, so it's all good.

And I'll try to do better about not aiming it at you this time either Michael....but no promises!

Just got back from town, glad I went. Roads were clear and I actually got about 5 minutes of sun, lol, on the way there, none on the way back and the clouds are looking gnarly.

Hey already painted the giant target in the yard just so we have no missunderstanding. But am looking for a set of giant fans to just "blow" it on by to Rozann.

Uh......I was going to go out and see how the roads were, before calling to work....and my 4WD truck is stuck in the middle of my driveway. BURIED stuck.

And the real snow hasn't even gotten here yet, lol. It can stay there til spring as far as I'm concerned, I'm done.

And the lights have been blinking already.....I'm thinking human brumation.
