    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Welcome to the zoo lil' sis!

So, I'd been thinking about getting a ball python for awhile, and things just fell into place yesterday, and I got one! I'd handled quite a few at various places to get an idea of the temperament I was looking for, and I love this girls* attitude. I'm not interested in breeding at the moment, just a pet, so temperament was more important then anything. She curls ups for a moment, then is super interested in everything that's going on and just wants to explore and see ALL the things. And she's a gorgeous little thing- when I saw her initially, I wondered if she was a pastel** but I've been told that she's a normal- a 'high yellow' normal, but a normal... with a lot of alien head markings. She's not named yet, I'm trying to think of a good one, probably going with the alien theme. D:

When I left this morning, this is what she was doing. Before I took the picture, she'd managed to hammock herself in the leads. Yes I took that thermometer out ASAP, and replaced it with a separate hydrometer and better probe thermometer for her UTH. I didn't realize the leads were so long D:

Andddd this is her tank now. I'm probably going to get a smaller hide for the cool side (on the left), but she's started using it, so maybe it's not as open as I thought. I'm also going to get a bigger water dish very soon. From what I've seen, she likes the coconut hide. Earlier, she was curled up with just her nose peaking out.

*she's actually unsexed, but the attendant was calling her a 'her' so I stuck with it D: I don't care much beyond knowing how big I should be planning for when she gets older
**I know sorta what pastel looks like, but not the traits that make it a pastel as I haven't read that much about the breeding.

Oh and as a bonus... this is one of the snakes I looked at/handled and for some reason, I did not end up with her...

(she was hungry and pretty sure I was really a rat. lil' stinker. I still have a bruise from that)

OH man! What a cutie <3 She is absolutely precious. :] Just reminds me of when i got my first little girl (Her names Chomper, shes now a good 700g) and was playing with her. Calling her my little cinnamon roll when she balled up and fit in the center of my hand. > w<

That second post is priceless. Might be one of the many ball python experiences you'll get used to. It surprises me that a ball that big would still be just as feisty. Usually little stink babies are like that.

Anyway i sure hope you enjoy your little girl, they grow fast! Before you know it she wont be so little anymore. :D

She is a gorgeous girl! Her name is Tali now :) She's already 18 inches (give or take- we laid a yard stick next to her while she was basking and stretched out... that's when she decided to become a little side winder and stopped holding still haha) and 106 grams, and I know before I know it she's gonna get huge. I don't realize how big she is now until she unballs and stretches out D:

Lol, I really didn't take it personally- it turned out that it had been a bit longer then they realized since she had been fed and that particular animal was a college student surrender. They've handled her since they fed her, and she's pretty skittish and frightened, probably not handled a lot. They said the college owned snakes could be the worse- the guy was telling me stories about a corn snake who was mean and struck a lot, I was like D: How do you make a corn snake mean??

updated pictures of her markings!
